Development history
Alxa Museum (old museum) was built in 1732, which was the official office and residence of Alxa flag kings.
The royal residence was built on behalf of the Royal Banner and the tenth Prince dalizaya. It has become a large-scale building community. Each part is composed of a number of Ming and Qing architectural style courtyard, mutual mastery, carved beams, elegant and exquisite. The whole building community is a typical Ming and Qing style of Beijing style quadrangle building group and Yihe garden style, so it is called "little Beijing".
During the Cultural Revolution (from May 1966 to October 1976), Alxa palace was greatly damaged and its houses were greatly renovated.
In 1997, Alxa palace was renamed Alxa Museum. During the restoration, the soft style of the gray tube tile roll shed roof was retained, and the carved and painted appearance of the courtyard and the tortuous appearance of the corridor could be discerned.

On the afternoon of July 16, 2003, a sudden heavy rain overthrew the putita, one of the Shuangbai pagodas, which had been existing for nearly 300 years in Linan Temple of Helan Mountain and experienced the catastrophe of the "Cultural Revolution". A large number of sutras and Buddha statues appeared at the site of the collapsed ancient pagoda. For a time, whether some of the relics used by the Sixth Dalai Lama were preserved in the Bodhi pagoda has aroused people's discussion and speculation. In mid September of that year, the Cultural Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region entrusted the leader of the Inner Mongolia Institute of archaeology to organize the Alxa museum to investigate the site, and then submitted the "Fang Eucalyptus for archaeological clearance of Bodhi pagoda" to the people's Government of azuo banner. After the approval, the archaeologists carried out a 20 day rescue excavation. A large number of clay, wooden Buddha statues, pagodas, thangkas and scriptures were cleared. But most of them have been damaged. In addition, there are two copper coins, a wooden Buddha head, a silk painting, ink books, Tibetan sheep scapula. The most striking thing is the unearthed remains of the roof, Hana, pole and door frame of a Mongolian yurt used by the Sixth Dalai Lama. The degree of corrosion is enough to prove its age.
