topographic features
The mountains here, after years of river erosion, are very steep and have different images. They are typical karst landscapes. They have not only the potential to reach heaven and earth, but also the magical and precipitous state, as well as the beautiful and quiet posture, just like a three-dimensional picture. The water here is not as majestic as the Yangtze River, nor as long-standing as the Yellow River Five thousand years ago, our ancestors gave birth to the splendid Hongshan culture. It is the place where the dawn of Chinese civilization rises, and it is a holy place for the world to worship. A wide variety of birds and fish bring the spirit of life here. Small wild ducks, gray geese, wild geese and herons are looking for food in the water, sometimes dancing, sometimes chasing and playing, sometimes stopping and watching; fat fish are looking for food from time to time The fishing boats that come back with a full load come ashore from time to time to convey the laughter of the fishermen, and the old duck man hums a little song to relax on the water. It is worthy of being called the south of the Yangtze River in the northern part of China.
This is the largest wetland in Chaoyang area, the most typical herb swamp wetland in northern China, and the most beautiful wetland in western Liaoning. The rippling water surface, the dense grass reeds, the ferries on the river, the fishermen casting nets, the rows of "fish cages", the water birds playing in the water, and the green makers on the bank, will make you linger and forget to return

history
The origin of Hongshan culture is about 5000 or 6000 years ago.
Hongshan cultural relics were first discovered in 1921. In 1935, the Hongshanhou site in Chifeng, Rehe province was excavated. In the late 1970s, a large-scale investigation was carried out in western Liaoning, and nearly 1000 sites were found. Large scale excavation was carried out in Lingyuan, Kazuo Dongshanzui and Jianping Niuheliang sites in Liaoning, which brought the study of Hongshan culture to a new stage. In 2013, Chifeng and Chaoyang announced that they would jointly apply for the world heritage of Hongshan culture.
Hongshan culture is centered on Xilamulun River, Laoha River and Daling River, which are tributaries of Liaohe River in Liaohe River Basin, covering an area of 200000 square kilometers and lasting for 2000 years.
In 1971, it was called "the first dragon of China" by archaeologists as the symbol of Hongshan culture. The jade dragon of Hongshan culture was unearthed in the Hongshan cultural site of Chifeng City. Therefore, Chifeng City is also known as "the hometown of Chinese jade dragon".
