The gallery is committed to promoting and collecting excellent works of art in contemporary China, introducing the developing modern and contemporary art in the West in China, sorting and collecting the excellent works of China's important first generation (Modern) artists from the perspective of art history, and collecting western contemporary art works for a long time.

Yian gallery was founded by Mr. William Zhang in Shanghai in 2000. In August 2002, Yi'an Gallery moved to the old warehouse with about 700 square meters of exhibition space on the North Bund. In 2008, it moved from Shanghai space to Beijing 798 Art Park. As a major contemporary art gallery, Yian Gallery focuses on Chinese contemporary art.
