Dragon pagoda
Juelong Pagoda: on the East Bank of Xiaoshui, about two Li north of Yongzhou City, stands an ancient pagoda with dangerous stones in the Dengju and Bihan in the Gaoling. This is the Huilong pagoda, one of the key cultural relics protection units in Hunan Province.
brief introduction
Built in 1584 A.D. in the 12th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, the tower is 37.25 meters high, of brick and stone structure, octagonal in plane and of pavilion type. The tower has seven exterior layers and five interior layers. The tower is built with bluestone and surrounded by stone railings. The first floor of the tower is built with square stone, and the second floor and above are built with green brick. From the second floor to the fifth floor, there are eight security doors on each floor; because the third and fifth floors have waist eaves, they are seven in appearance. At the corner of the tower body above the second floor, there are leaning columns with Dougong on them. The bucket is made of brick and the Dougong is made of stone. On the top of the tower are iron covered bowls, phase wheels and gourds.
The tower is hollow. Tall and majestic, standing in the north of Yongzhou City, Xiaoshui east bank. The tower was built by LV Huo, the censor of Zuojin city. On the bottom floor of the gate, the running script "dragon pagoda" was written by Chen Sheng, a governor of Fujian Province. The structure of the eaves and brackets on the waist of the pagoda preserved the architectural style of the Song Dynasty. It is one of the important brick pagodas in our province.
legend
It is said that before the Ming Dynasty, Yongzhou was often overcast and rainy. In other words, evil dragon makes evil spirits. Every year, the flood will take away many people's lives and property. The common people are miserable. It is useless to ask God to worship Buddha. As a result, Yongzhou was sparsely populated and desolate at that time. It was not until the Tang and Yuan dynasties that Liu Zongyuan wrote "the article of sculpture" that the disaster situation was reduced. In the Ming Dynasty (1584 AD), the imperial governor Cao Jiang Youjin, the imperial censor Lu Huo, donated money to build the pagoda, and "returned" to live in the evil dragon and the flood. At the bottom of the pagoda are four running script characters: "huilongding pagoda" written by Chen Sheng, the governor of Huguang youjindu.
shape
The pagoda is octagonal in shape. It is 27.25 meters high and 5.67 meters wide at the lower level. The pagoda has five levels, three and four levels, each with a waist eaves, so it has seven levels. The lower layer is made of bluestone, without bucket arch ornaments, and only one layer of outlet is built at the top. From the second floor and above, they are made of big blue bricks and sand and stone; each side is equipped with rolling doors, with false windows on both sides of the rolling doors, and a bucket arch on the eaves. In the first place, there is a melon seed arch on the top of the head, and between each one, there is a mandarin duck writing hand; in the second place, there is a cornice on the top of the head, and the corner of the cornice rises slowly. There is a certain space plane at the top of the bucket arch or waist eaves bucket arch, which can walk out of the tower body through the rolling door and around the tower. A covering bowl is placed on the top of the tower, on which an iron phase wheel is placed. There is a gourd on the iron wheel. Although the tower was built in the Ming Dynasty, it still retains the architectural techniques of the Song Dynasty. The tower is a rare ancient building in our province with its majestic body, exquisite structure and unique ingenuity. The tower is hollow, with stone steps on each floor, which can be bypassed to the top; when you climb the top of the tower, you can have a panoramic view of the city and the beautiful scenery of "night rain on Xiaoxiang River".

Shanggantang village Yongzhou scenic spot
With picturesque landscapes, antique buildings and plain villagers, Shanggantang village is like a paradise.
Shanggantang village is 25 kilometers southwest of Jiangyong County. There are 453 households with a total of 1865 people. Except for 7 families with different surnames who moved into the village after the founding of the people's Republic of China, the rest are Zhou people. The Zhou clan began to settle down in Shanggantang village before the Song Dynasty, and has been reproducing from generation to generation. The village is the oldest ancient village in Hunan Province.
More than 200 ancient dwellings of Ming and Qing Dynasties are still preserved in the village. In addition, a large number of Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings were left in the village, such as Wenchang Pavilion in the 48th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, gatehouse in the 6th year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty, buying bridge in the 10th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty and Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, stone wall in the 2nd year of the Republic of China, and a number of ancient buildings with Song Dynasty characteristics. The village was founded more than 1000 years ago. After thousands of years of wind and rain, the name, location and family of the village remain unchanged. Archaeologists say that Shanggantang village, which is a well preserved ancient village with architectural, commercial, Academy, religious and other cultural characteristics, is a miracle.
There is a cliff stone carving in yuepo Pavilion in Shanggantang village. According to research, the stone carving was carved by the Zhou family in Shanggantang village in 1000 years. The main content is to eulogize the beautiful scenery of Shanggantang village and the construction of the Zhou family in the village. There are 24 ancient stone inscriptions, including merit steles, exhortations, sentimental poems and bajingshi, which extend to song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, It's a thousand year old stone family tree.
It is the first time in Hunan Province that this cliff carving, which is carved by a family in the history of more than 1000 years, specifically reflects the millennium development history of the family. It has important reference value for the study of rural history, folk customs, especially the local history, culture and religion in the song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.
In the south of Shanggantang village, there is a three hole stone arch bridge, named "buying bridge". The bridge was built in the first year of Jingkang of Song Dynasty. It has been repaired in yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. It has maintained the ancient post road in front of the village for thousands of years. The bridge is 27 meters long, 4.5 meters wide, 9.5 meters long and 5 meters high. The arch bridge adopts semi-circular thin arch, which is small and chic. It sets off with the solemn and towering of Wenchang Pavilion, and forms a picture, which makes it interesting.
Stone arch bridge is the only ancient bridge of Song Dynasty discovered in Hunan Province so far. In addition, Wen Tianxiang's calligraphy inscription "loyalty, filial piety and integrity" was also found, which is the same as the font "loyalty, filial piety and integrity" excavated in Changsha Xuegong site in the late 1980s. The calligraphy style is the same, and the size is almost the same.
The discovery of Shanggantang village provides a complete organizational cell for cultural relic experts to study feudal society. In the farming society, kinship village is an independent and complete life circle or cultural circle, which is the smallest unit to maintain the social characteristics. The discovery of Shanggantang village provides us with complete data to study history from the perspective of ordinary natural and social people.
