Guanmen mountain scenic spot is called Guanmen mountain because of its two peaks, one wide and one narrow, one big and one small, which is like a gate. It has three gates; the north gate, in the direction of Xiaoshi, faces two peaks and is connected by an arch bridge in the middle; the south gate, at the top of the ridge to Tanggou, is very dangerous. Zhongmen, located in the deep valley of the river, "double leaf" water, only 20 meters wide, is the natural gate pillar for the construction of the reservoir. Some people call it "xiaojiangnan", "saihuangshan", and Guanmen mountain is known as "xiaohuangshan in Northeast China". Guanmenshan scenic spot is located in Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, 48 kilometers away from the urban area, covering an area of more than 30 square kilometers. It is composed of Hongye Lake (Guanmenshan reservoir) and Guanmenshan forest park. Due to the confrontation of two peaks, one is wide and one is narrow, one is large and one is small, facing each other like a door, so it is called Guanmen mountain, which is one of the 50 best sceneries in Liaoning Province. In the territory, the mountains are steep and beautiful, the valley is deep, the clear stream is murmuring, the flowers and trees are verdant, and there are many kinds of animals and plants. It is famous for its unique peaks, beautiful water, exquisite fog, luxuriant trees and beautiful flowers.

It belongs to Changbai Mountain, which is the afterblood of thousand mountains. It has been known as "Huangshan Mountain in Northeast China" and "Guilin in Northeast China" since ancient times.

Development history

In October 1991, Guanmenshan reservoir was completed and put into operation, adding a beautiful scenery of "high gorge and flat Lake" to the scenic spot. Looking from a distance, the reservoir is like a piece of Jasper inlaid in the mountains, magnificent and beautiful. The construction of the reservoir has effectively protected the natural resources and environment. Many rare birds and animals that have not been seen for a long time have come here to live.

In 2004, the scenic spot passed the national "AAAA" rating.

In 2015, the scenic spot was rated as a candidate of national "AAAAA" level scenic spot.

In May 2017, Guanmenshan scenic spot failed to meet the corresponding standard of "classification and evaluation of quality grades of scenic spots", and Liaoning Provincial Tourism Resources Planning and development quality evaluation committee decided to cancel its 4A qualification.

The scenic area management office has planned and constructed more than 100 scenic spots and various service facilities in four major scenic spots, namely "Hongye Lake", "Jingxiu peak", "nature park" and "Guanchun garden".
