historical background
Zhao Yiman, formerly known as Li Kuntai and also known as Li Yichao, was born in Yibin County, Sichuan Province in 1905. He joined the Chinese Socialist Youth League in 1923 and the Communist Party of China in 1926. He studied in Wuhan Branch of Huangpu Military Academy and Zhongshan University in Moscow. After returning to China in the winter of 1928, he worked underground in Yichang, Nanchang and Shanghai. After the September 18th Incident in 1931, he went to the northeast to engage in the Anti Japanese struggle. He was the Acting Secretary of Harbin Federation of trade unions and the director of the Political Department of the second regiment of the third army of the Northeast Anti Japanese coalition. In July and August 1935, the Japanese puppet army launched a "crusade" against the Pearl River guerrilla base. Zhao Shangzhi, commander of the third army of the Anti Japanese Federation, led the main force of the third army to leave the Pearl River and go to Tangyuan and other places in the lower reaches of the Songhua River to open up new guerrilla areas. Zhao Yiman, as a special commissioner of the county Party committee and Secretary of the Tiebei district Party committee, also served as director of the Political Department of the new second regiment, stayed in the Pearl River guerrilla base and persisted in the struggle. In the anti "crusade" struggle, Zhao Yiman and his regiment leader Wang Huitong led the new second regiment to fight several bloody battles with the enemy. On November 15, they were surrounded by the enemy in Chunqiu mountain left handed ditch. In the battle, Wang Huitong was captured and later sacrificed. Zhao Yiman was injured in his left arm. Under the cover of his comrades in arms, he moved to Xiaobeigou and hid in xiaocangzi (shack) in Shandong Province. On November 22, due to the betrayal of the traitors, Zhang Fuxing, the leader of the puppet police squadron, and yutaro, the Japanese director, led more than 30 puppet police officers to surround xiaocangzi, where Zhao Yiman was hiding. In the battle, Zhao Yiman was seriously injured in his left leg and captured. In 1948, the democratic government of Zhuhe county changed the name of Houlin Township in Tiebei District of Zhuhe county to Yiman village. In 1984, the County Civil Affairs Bureau rebuilt the site where martyr Zhao Yiman was arrested and set up a stone tablet.
Establishment of Memorial Park

In December 2010, Zhao Yiman memorial garden in Shangzhi City was announced as a provincial patriotism education base by Heilongjiang provincial Party committee and government.
