Myriad Buddha Hole
Wanfo cave, a famous tourist attraction in Jinan, Shandong Province, was built in 1992. Located in the northern foot of Qianfo Hill, the WAN foo cave is the essence of four famous Grottoes in China, including Mogao, Longmen, Maiji and Yungang. The Buddha, the Bodhisattva, the disciples, the heavenly king and the Nu Li are nearly thirty thousand. Visitors can see the charm of the Northern Wei, Tang and Song dynasties. In addition, there are also places of interest such as Tang huaiting, qiyanjiudian, yunjingchanguan and so on. Wanfo cave is a cave about 500 meters long, in which there are more than 23000 various statues.
The ten thousand Buddha cave of Longmen Grottoes is located in the middle of the west mountain of Longmen. It is named for the fact that there are more than 15000 Buddha statues carved on the north and south walls of the cave.
Historical evolution
The Wanfo cave in Longmen Grottoes was completed in 680 ad, the first year of Yonglong in Tang Dynasty. The main statue of the wall, Amitabha, is about 4 meters high and sits on the lotus seat of the octagonal waist bunched Xumi, with a serene and solemn expression. Fifty four lotus flowers are carved on the back wall. Each lotus has a Bodhisattva or a supporter. The idea is novel and peculiar.
There are many performers and dancers on the two walls. The musicians hold all kinds of musical instruments, vivid and vivid, and seem to be intoxicated with the sounds of nature they play. The dancers are graceful, and their clothes are floating, as if they are elaborately performing the most graceful dance. There is a statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva carved on the south wall outside the cave, with the tail in the right hand and the bottle in the left hand. It shows the highest Buddhist realm of "all dharmas return to the South China Sea, spotless and tranquil".
Wanfo cave is named after 15000 small Buddhas carved on both sides of the cave. The cave is a front and back chamber structure. The front chamber is made of two powerful men and two lions, and the back chamber is made of one Buddha, two disciples, two Bodhisattvas and two heavenly kings. It is the most complete combination of statues in Longmen Grottoes. There is a beautiful lotus on the top of the cave. Around the lotus is a inscription: "on November 30, the first year of Yonglong in the Tang Dynasty, there were 15000 statues of Zen master Yun in the Taoist temple of Yao shenbiao.". It shows that the cave was excavated under the leadership of Yao shenbiao, the second grade female official in the palace, and Zen master Zhiyun of neidaochang. It was completed in 680 A.D., the first year of Yonglong reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty. The main Buddha in the cave is Amitabha, sitting on a double lotus seat. His face is plump and mellow, and his shoulders are broad. The simple and smooth clothing pattern uses the carving technique of Tang Dynasty round knife. The "fearless seal" of the Lord Buddha shows that he is fearless and self-centered between heaven and earth. The main Buddha sits on the lotus throne and carves four vajras on the waist. The vigorous and vigorous posture is in sharp contrast with the calmness of the main Buddha, which also sets off the tranquility of the main Buddha. There are 52 lotus flowers behind the main Buddha. On each lotus, there is a Bodhisattva. They sit on their side, hold the lotus, or whisper. They look different, like different groups of girls.
There are 15000 small Buddha statues on the north and south walls of the cave, each of which is only four centimeters high. On the wall bases of the north and south walls, there are six Kabuki musicians. The Kabuki dances in the melodious music. They are light and graceful.
The whole grottoes are resplendent, showing people the ideal land of the Western Paradise, and setting off a warm and cheerful atmosphere of Buddhahood.
There is also a Bodhisattva statue on the south side of the cave entrance, which is an exquisite example of many Bodhisattvas of Tang Dynasty in Longmen Grottoes. Bodhisattva is 85 cm high, with his head tilted to the right and his body in an "s" shape. His whole posture is very graceful and dignified. Mei Lanfang, a famous dramatist in China, was attracted and appreciated by her beautiful image when she visited Longmen in her early years. Later, after artistic processing, it was successfully applied to his performance.
Details
The "ten thousand Buddha cave" in Qianfo Mountain consists of Kalan Dharma protection Hall (Mahatma Hall), Jiutian Notre Dame cave, wuliangshou Buddha Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Baiyi cave, Lingwang cave, dizang Bodhisattva hall, fulushou temple, Sanxing hall and sunshi Niangniang Temple cave "The Wanfo cave temple was roughly formed in the Song Dynasty. At that time, it fought with Xixia for many years. Chen Tao, a poet of the late Tang Dynasty, described" pitiful bones along the river "in his poem Longxi Xing, which refers to Mizhi and the area to the north. In order to avoid the war, the people took advantage of its dangerous terrain to dig natural caves for refuge, and now there are still dozens of round holes on the plank road; the beacon towers everywhere on both sides of the Wuding River are enough to prove the frequent wars in those years. As the number of people seeking refuge increased, some of the caves were opened for the protection of gods, hoping that the gods would bless peace, and temples gradually formed over a long period of time. It was originally known as Wanfu cave. During the reign of Jiajing and Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1522-1620), nearly 10000 Buddha statues were carved in the main hall, also known as Wanfo cave, and gradually became a Buddhist holy land. Old man Gao Jinzhan is probably the one who knows the history of Wanfo cave best.
On the south side of many grottoes, there is a sun's Niangniang Temple which has to be mentioned. It is said that sun's sisters, the shepherd's aunt outside the Great Wall, chased the sheep scattered by the wind on foot. Suddenly, they met an old man with white beard who was able to walk lightly. When the sun was setting at the fork of mizhimeng's house, the sun was already slanting to the West. They asked a farmer if he could get to Tongguan today. The farmer looked at the two girls who were dressed like sheep and spoke with a foreign accent and said, "the sun is going to set. How can we walk thousands of miles Li Lu. It's absolutely impossible to get to Tongguan. Maybe they didn't catch the breath. These two girls, who were just a little bit of Taoist, lost all their magic power and had to stay here. Xiuying, her younger sister, became an immortal after practicing in mengjiacha. Sister GUI Ying arrived at the pyrotechnics battle of Wanfo cave envoy. At that time, the ten thousand Buddha cave was being expanded, and there were dozens of workers. Sun Guiying was busy with pyrotechnics one day and practiced devoutly at night. Sometimes, they give birth to babies, give birth to babies, give birth to milk, give birth to babies, cure blood addicts and so on, so that many dystocia women get out of danger. Over time, this highly skilled, day and night, on call midwife (that is, the old steady woman) is the most popular among pregnant women. The reputation of delivering children is also spreading further and further. Finally, he was moved by the gods to give him a long life for the benefit of the common people. When he was nearly 90 years old, he ascended to heaven at the original site of Niangniang Temple. In memory of this kind, capable, rich and poor midwife, her body was molded in the statue in situ for years of incense. Although the story is a legend, it is true that the sun's family is seated. Although the temple has changed its appearance for three times, many people can see its true bones. In 1991, it was rebuilt by Liu Suo, a painted sculpture master in dangjiagou village, west of Mizhi river. It also shows the human world with the kind face of the farmer's wife, whose real bones are still in the statue. Up to now, pilgrims seeking to protect their sons and daughters come in an endless stream, and the temple's many stone plaques are the best testimony. On the other side are the stone inscriptions inscribed "Shenying" by Ye Lan, a calligrapher of the Qing Dynasty in the Tongzhi period.
As time goes by, the world has changed, and the Wanfo cave has ushered in an era of harmony between government and people. After 26 years of unremitting efforts, the seriously damaged Wanfo cave has been basically restored. It has become a famous tourist attraction in Northern Shaanxi and was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Yulin City in 2007.
