In this old street, there are "stone arch ring Pavilion foot" and Baroque street house facade designated as historical buildings, as well as cultural assets such as Qishan station and farmers' Association of Qishan district. In 2001, this old street was voted the 24th place in the contest of 100 historical buildings.
Historical development
Qishan area was originally the location of taburian, a branch of xilaya nationality. Later, it is said that Zhangzhou kenmin, who lived in Fengshan in the late Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty, recruited tenants from Tingzhou, Fujian Province to rent land from taburian. Because they built Zhuliao and planted sweet potato here, they were called "sweet potato Liao". It was located at the outer gate of Luohan in luohanmen area. Later, with the increasing population of Han people, it developed into a "village" around 1752, and further developed into a "street" around 1807.
After entering the Japanese occupation period, the local streets began to change into checkerboard layout after shiqiaoheng, the director of the sweet potato department, put forward the instruction of correcting the streets on April 14, the 36th year of Meiji (1903). After that, the old streets of Qing Dynasty near the stream gradually declined, and the core moved to "Bentong" (now Zhongshan Road). The baroque style street house (Taiwan pailoucuo) on Zhongshan Road was built between the 14th year of Dazheng and the 5th year of Zhaohe (1925-1930). Originally, this area was for military use. After coordination, more than 660 Ping of the former military training ground was set aside in the north section, and more than 500 Ping of the original barracks was set aside in the south section. Finally, a total of 19 foreign buildings were built, each with a width of 15 feet It is also equipped with tap water.
After the Second World War, when Yanping Road was widened in May 1976, the prosperous position of Zhongshan Road was replaced, but there are still many small retail and catering stores. Zhongshan Road has always maintained its 5-meter width. After 1981, the widening project was carried out in September of that year to widen the width to 9 meters. Because there are still many cultural assets on the street, it has become a tourist attraction after the development of cultural tourism, and there are many tourists on holidays.
Architecture
The main body of the Baroque street house is the inclined roof building of brick and wood structure, while the facade is mostly made of reinforced concrete beams and bricks. In addition, the exterior wall will be applied with stone washing method, with fair faced brick or tile decoration
