Li Zhuang

Li Zhuang, male, was born in Xushui County, Hebei Province. He studied in Shanxi national revolutionary University in 1938, reported the Anti Japanese and national salvation movement as a reporter of national revolution news agency in 1939, took part in revolutionary work in April 1940, studied in the Anti Japanese military and Political University, and joined the Communist Party of China in August of the same year as a reporter of jinjiyu daily. He once served as the general manager of people's daily, member of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, deputy to the third and Seventh National People's Congress, and member of the education, science, culture and Health Committee of the Seventh National People's Congress.

At 15:54 on March 3, 2006, Comrade Li Zhuang, an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, a loyal communist fighter, an outstanding leading cadre of the party's news propaganda front and the former general manager of the people's daily, died in Beijing at the age of 88.

Life of the characters

From January 1942 to May 1945, he served as a reporter, chief of interview section, chief of communication section, chief of communication section and member of editorial board of North China Xinhua Daily.

From June 1945 to April 1946, he was Vice Minister of Communication Department of Taihang Xinhua Daily.

During the war of liberation, he successively worked in Taihang Xinhua Daily, Shanxi Hebei Shandong Henan people's daily, Shanxi Hebei Shandong Henan general branch of Xinhua news agency, North China general branch of Xinhua news agency, Beiping branch of Xinhua news agency, and North China People's daily. He successively served as vice minister of communication Department, chief of interview department, chief of interview department, director of interview department.

In 1948, the CPC Central Committee decided to transform the North China People's daily into an organ newspaper of the CPC Central Committee. He participated in the creation work and successively served as director of the chief editor's office, director of the rural work department and member of the editorial board of the people's daily.

In November 1957, he was appointed to Moscow to serve as the consultant and expert group leader of Soviet China Friendship magazine.

After returning to China in March 1960, he successively served as director of the rural department, domestic department and chief editor's office of people's daily.

In October 1965, he served as deputy general manager of people's daily. During the "Cultural Revolution", he was persecuted, but he still firmly believed in the party's belief and the people's cause.

In March 1977, he served as deputy general manager and member of editorial board of people's daily.

In November 1983, he was a member of the editorial board of the people's daily.

He retired in August 1995.

On March 3, 2006, Comrade Li Zhuang died in Beijing at the age of 88.

At the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Comrade Li Zhuang was elected a member of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the CPC Central Committee. He was also elected a deputy to the third and Seventh National People's Congress and a member of the education, science, culture and Health Committee of the Seventh National People's Congress.

Character story

Comrade Li Zhuang's life is a life of unremitting struggle for the party's news and propaganda cause. As one of the founders of the people's daily, he has long held a leading position in the people's daily and made important contributions to running the people's daily well and promoting its development.

Comrade Li Zhuang is an excellent journalist of the party. He has published a large number of works which are widely read and have a wide range of social influence in various periods of revolution and construction. During the Anti Japanese War, he wrote such newsletters and articles as "commemorating Mr. Lu Xun in the urgent voice of defending great Wuhan", "March behind the enemy", "annihilating the enemy's tiger mouth", actively publicized the party's Anti Japanese national united front, and reflected the fighting life of the army and people in Taihang base area against the Japanese aggressors. During the war of liberation, he wrote such reports as "asking for the life of seven million people" and "victory of truth", angrily denouncing the disaster caused by the Kuomintang to the people of the Yellow River flood area, and enthusiastically eulogizing the fighting life of the army and people of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan during the war of liberation. He participated in the organization of publicity reports on major events before and after the founding ceremony. His series of reports on the first session of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, such as "the Chinese people stand up from now on", deeply praised the birth of new China and became an immortal masterpiece in the history of Chinese journalism.

After the outbreak of the war to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea, Li Zhuang was appointed by the organization as the leader of the Korean international press corps composed of journalists from China, Britain and France, and went deep into the front line of the Korean battlefield. He visited Seoul and the south of the Korean peninsula for many times and was the first Chinese journalist to cover the war of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea. He has published a large number of news and communication works, such as "day and night on the South Bank of the Han River", "troops cheered by people" and "flames of revenge", eulogizing the glorious deeds and lofty spirit of the military and people of China and North Korea to jointly defend their country and fight against the aggressors.

Character evaluation

In his long-term practice of journalism work, Comrade Li Zhuang has always adhered to the principle of party spirit, carried forward the fine tradition of the party's journalism work, firmly grasped the correct guidance, actively spread the party's voice, publicized the party's propositions, and extensively and deeply reflected the people's aspirations. During his tenure as the general manager of the people's daily, under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, he adhered to the four cardinal principles, restored the party's ideological line of seeking truth from facts, organized and published many important theoretical comments and articles, comprehensively publicized and implemented the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, and actively created a good atmosphere of public opinion for promoting reform and opening up and socialist modernization.

Comrade Li Zhuang has always attached great importance to the construction of the news team. We have devoted a lot of efforts to the training of young journalists by persisting in educating the news team with the Marxist concept of journalism, actively advocating theoretical study, and emphasizing going deep into practice, life and the masses.

Comrade Li Zhuang's life is a life of pursuing truth and unremitting struggle for the party's cause of news and publicity. He conscientiously studied Marxism Leninism, Mao Zedong thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of "Three Represents", implemented the scientific outlook on development, paid attention to using scientific theory to guide work practice, and consciously maintained a high degree of consistency with the Party Central Committee. He unswervingly adheres to the communist ideal and belief, is infinitely loyal to the party and the people, and devoted his whole life to the party's journalism and propaganda. He is hardworking, simple and rigorous, modest and kind, approachable, indifferent to fame and wealth, and close to the masses. He was strict with himself, lenient to others, diligent and honest, lived a simple life, and always maintained the fine style and noble sentiment of Communists. He is a respected senior of the people's daily and an example for journalists.

The death of Comrade Li Zhuang has made our party lose an excellent Party member and a loyal soldier in the party's news propaganda front. We should turn grief into strength, unite more closely around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Hu Jintao as general secretary, and strive to build a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way and create a new situation in the cause of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics.

In his long-term news and publicity work, Comrade Li Zhuang is good at using the "red pen" to revise and approve manuscripts, and has accumulated rich leadership experience in news and publicity work; he is good at using the "blue pen" to write articles by himself, and has created a large number of popular and influential works. After his retirement, he still cared about and supported the work of the people's daily. He kept on writing and published many anthologies, such as "new era collection", "I have been in the people's daily for 40 years", "people's daily for 40 years", "late farming collection" and "hardly sober", which contributed a lot of historical facts and enlightening works and anthologies for future generations.
