Sesu Temple

Sexusiyin is one of the largest temples in Ganzi Prefecture, which is composed of more than 100 temples. There are tens of thousands of Buddhist statues and Sutras in the temple. Among them, the statue of Maitreya Buddha (about 19 meters high), which is known as the second largest Buddha in Tibet, the two-story copper gilded relic tower, and the staff of famous ancient Indian temples are the most precious. There are five Kanglin (Branch) and 15 zhenzha (class) in sexu temple. It has a good learning system. It has been highly praised by Banchan masters and other eminent monks and celebrities twice. Sexu temple is one of the two Gelug temples that can teach "gexi" degree.

Temple introduction

There is a "Paradise Mandala" in the "Paradise Sutra hall" of sexu temple. There are 1151 Buddha statues with Buddha as the main body worshipped in the hall. Among them, the largest three are the western three saints, which are 3 meters high. The bronze gilded statues have been invested by a Buddhist in Shenzhou city. The rest of the large, medium and small Buddha statues have also been funded by the four disciples. The construction of Sutra hall, mandala and Buddha statues is to make the four disciples come to practice in the scene of contemplation, practice and enlightenment, and finally get the guidance of Amitabha Buddha, which can prove that they can get the ultimate liberation in the blissful world: free from life and death, break through reincarnation. Located in watu Township, Shiqu County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province at the junction of Qinghai, Tibet and Sichuan, sexu temple has a history of more than 240 years. There are more than 1300 monks in the temple, which is composed of more than 100 temples. It is not only the largest temple group in Ganzi Prefecture, but also the largest Gelug Temple of Tibetan Buddhism in Shiqu. It is also the only Buddhist College in Kangba region that is qualified to confer "gexi" degree (Doctor of Buddhism). "Sesu" means "tribe descendant with yellow hat", and the name Shiqu is its transliteration.

Introduction to the Abbot

At the age of 16, Chiba Rinpoche shaved and received the samadhi commandment in front of the reincarnation of Danba cairang, king of degfa. At the age of 18, he was recognized by many living Buddhas as the reincarnation Lingtong of bencang living Buddha of the seventh sexu temple. In the following year, he served as the 37th general Dharma platform of sexu temple, and was in charge of the educational administration of more than 60 temples attached to it. At the age of 20, he received the full commandment before the reincarnation of Kanbu. In 1995, the government of Ganzi Prefecture officially issued the certificate of reincarnation and held a grand ceremony for him.

Since 1995, Chiba Rinpoche decided to hold a snow praying Dharma Assembly in the temple, praying for the prosperity of Buddhism, prosperity of the country, good weather, national unity and world peace. In 1998, for the first time, Rinpoche cordially invited nearly 100 Han residents from all over the country to participate in the Dharma Assembly. They chanted 5 billion times of the six character Daming mantra, 1 billion times of the holy, wonderful and auspicious Sutra, and 5 billion times of the Puxian praying. Thanks to Rinpoche's kindness and ingenuity, sexu temple built an unprecedented paradise Sutra hall in 2000.

There are more than 1300 monks in the temple. Under the leadership of the current abbot, Chiba Rinpoche, the management of the temple is in good order, with strict discipline, strict practice and a large number of monks. In July 2005, the monks of the Buddhist College of our temple won the top four in the examination of the national higher Buddhist College of Tibetan Buddhism.

In recent years, the temple has successively established Tibetan Hospital, elderly home, Xikang Charity Association, hope class, orphan technical school (under construction), etc. It has solved most of the social welfare problems for the local government and brought the gospel of life to the Tibetan people. After the 2010 Yushu earthquake in Qinghai Province, more than 900 monks of Sesu Temple rushed to the disaster area to rescue more than 700 survivors. On April 23, Chiba Rinpoche, the living Buddha of sexu temple in Shiqu County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, donated a total of 11 million yuan and 1.2 million yuan worth of living materials to Yushu earthquake stricken area on behalf of nearly 1000 monks of sexu temple.

The origin of the temple's name

Sesu temple, a famous temple in the snow area, was founded in 1760. It has a history of more than 240 years. It is located in watu Township, about 10 kilometers away from Shiqu County, Sichuan Province, China. It is the largest temple group in Ganzi Prefecture and the largest Gelug Sect (yellow sect) Temple of Tibetan Buddhism in Shiqu. Shiqu is a place with strong religious atmosphere, especially in pastoral areas. There are 46 yellow, white, red and stubble flower temples in the county, among which sexu temple is the largest and most famous. Sexu temple is the second largest bronze gilded Qiangba Buddha in Tibet (only the Qiangba Buddha in zhashlunbu temple in Tibet), and it is the only Gelug temple in Kangba that is qualified to confer "gexi" degree (equivalent to a doctor of Buddhism). "Sesu" means the tribe descendant wearing the yellow hat. It is said that the name Shiqu evolved from this pronunciation.

Precious cultural relics

The treasure of sexu temple is the yasherita of zongkaba. It is said that there are three teeth in zongkaba, the largest of which is preserved in Sesu temple. The reason why sexu temple, far away in kangzang area, is so honored is that its first Dharma platform is the great disciple of the good head of master zongkaba.

Every year, Sesu temple holds a sutra debate meeting. Lamas come from the Yellow religion temples all over Tibet to participate in the Sutra debate. The scene is quite grand. The Buddhist monk sits in the front row and decides the outcome.

Since 1983, the living Buddha of Chiba tubdan quejijianzan has been appointed as the 37th fatai of Sesu temple.
