Yinghe River, known as Yingshui in ancient times, is said to be named in memory of yingkaoshu, a native of Zheng in the spring and Autumn period. Its main tributary is Shahe, so it is also called Shahe or Shaying River.

Yinghe river is a tributary of Huaihe River. It originates from Songshan Mountain in Dengfeng County of Henan Province, flows into Huaihe River through Zhoukou City and Fuyang City of Anhui Province, and flows into Zhengyangguan of Shouxian county (mohekou of Yingshang County). It is the largest tributary of Huaihe River. The total length is 620 km. The basin is bounded by the South dyke of the Yellow River in the north, Yihe River and Luohe River in the northwest, Tangbai River in the southwest, Hongru River, Guhe River and Runhe River in the south, and Wohe River and Xifei River in the northeast.

Yinghe river is an important water source for shipping and agricultural irrigation in the history of Huaihe River Basin. It is also a river with serious flood disasters. It has been treated repeatedly in history. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, a large number of water conservancy facilities such as Zhaopingtai reservoir and gushitan reservoir have been built. Shaying river channel is also listed as one of the backbone channel networks of "two main lines and three branches" in Anhui Province. At the end of 2011, the reconstruction of Fuyang shiplock was completed, and the channel of Shaying River was connected.

With the source of Yinghe River as the upstream, Yinghe river has a total length of 619 kilometers and a drainage area of 36728 square kilometers. Among them, Anhui Province is 208 kilometers long, with a drainage area of 4010 square kilometers.

In Henan Province, the river is 418 kilometers long and the drainage area is 28800 square kilometers.

The main stream originates from Songshan Mountain of Dengfeng County in Henan Province, flows through Yuzhou City, Xiangcheng County, Xuchang County, Linying County, Xihua county and Zhoukou City, and reaches the confluence of Shahe River, with a total length of 262 kilometers and a drainage area of 7348 square kilometers. In Zhoukou City, the drainage area behind the Nasha River and Jialu river is 25800 square kilometers.

Because its tributary Shahe is its main tributary, Shahe is used to be called "Shaying River" as the main stream of the upper reaches of Yinghe river system.

Taking Shahe River as the upstream, Shaying River originates from Lushan County in Funiu Mountain area, Henan Province, flows through Ye County, Yancheng County, Shangshui County, Huaiyang County, Xiangcheng County and Shenqiu County, and enters Anhui Province.

Within the territory of Anhui Province, Yinghe River enters the territory at changshenggou, Jieshou City, flows through Taihe County, Fuyang City, Yingshang County and other counties and cities, and flows into Huaihe River at mohekou, Zhengyangguan Town, Yingshang County.

Henan Province

In Henan Province, there are 14 rivers with a drainage area of more than 1000 square kilometers and 104 rivers with a drainage area of 100-1000 square kilometers.

Shahe, originated in mudaling of Funiu Mountain in Lushan County, flows through Pingdingshan, Baofeng, Yexian, Xiangcheng, Wuyang, Yancheng, Luohe, Xihua and Shangshui, and reaches Yinghe River in Zhoukou City. The river is 322 kilometers long and covers an area of 12580 square kilometers. There are many tributaries of Shahe River. There are 33 tributaries with a drainage area of more than 100 square kilometers. In the west of Pingdingshan City, they are all mountainous areas, and the water comes quickly. The peak discharge of Xiatang hydrological station in 1851 was 11100 m3 / s, baiguishanshui hydrological station in 1884 was 9100 m3 / s, Luohe hydrological station in 1931 was 3760 m3 / s. In 1938, the South dyke of Huayuankou of the Yellow River was removed, that is to say, the flood flowed from Jialu River to Yinghe River, forming a wide shallow channel with a width of 1-2 km. Qingliu River, originated in Yanling tungou, is located in Liwan Yinghe, Xihua county, with a length of 23.3 km and a drainage area of 1393 square km.

Xincai River, originated in xiaolinzhuang, Huaiyang County, flows through Dancheng county and Yinghe, xinanji, Shenqiu County. It is 86.4 km long and covers an area of 1030 square kilometers.

Except Quanhe River, all tributaries have flood control culverts and gates at the place where they flow into Yinghe river. There are Fuyang sluice junction and Yingshang sluice junction in the trunk of Yinghe river.

Balihu is located on the left bank of Huaihe River in Yingshang County. The main channel into the lake is the balihe river. The lake is in the lower reaches. The river and lake are integrated, so it is named. Originally, it was connected with daijiahu lake and entered Huaihe River through Liugou, Chuigang and Jixi. In 1957, the dam was blocked in huzhaoying, the entrance to Huaihe River was closed, and the left side of Huaihe River was connected with Gangdi. Balihe river was changed to drain eastward, and it flowed into Yinghe River to the south of fangtaizi. There is a balihe Sluice at the mouth of the river to control the water storage. The control area is 483 square kilometers, and the annual water level is 19.5%
