Obedient Lake

Tingming lake is located in Gaoligong Mountain Nature Reserve in the northeast of Pianma, Lushui County, Yunnan Province. Between Tingming mountain and Wuzhong mountain, it is about 36 kilometers away from Pianma Town, with an altitude of about 3540 meters and an area of 0.3 square kilometers. There is no road to reach it. It takes about 10 hours to walk all the way to the mountain forest. It is the source of the obedient river. It is an ice lake eroded by yuchongchuan. It is a mythical lake with high altitude, low water temperature, short formation time, less organisms and excellent water quality. Due to the legend that people can call the wind and rain, the lake has always been shrouded in mystery. However, when people come here, they can only communicate in a whisper. If they shout loudly, the sky will be covered with dark clouds, wind and rain, hail, so it has a strong and mysterious color.

About 36 kilometers from Pianma town. At an altitude of about 3540 meters, from Lushui county to Tingming lake, we have to climb the steep valley and pass through the vast forest sea and alpine shrubbery. The road is rugged. The shape of the lake is long from east to west and wide from north to south. The water surface is about 120 mu. The water of the lake is made of rain and snow.

The lake is clear and transparent, the water depth is unpredictable, and it is as cold as ice. The surrounding forests are dense, and wild animals live and roam around. The rare national protected animals, such as Tragopan, mountain donkey, golden monkey, red panda and antelope, live here all the year round. The scenery of the lake area varies with the seasons. In spring, the trickling snow water from the melting snow mountains flows into the lake, and the azaleas all over the mountains decorate the four fields. It is a paradise for awakening wild animals. In summer, the lush green forest is in full bloom, and the sea of clouds is vast. In autumn, the blue lake water reflects the golden leaves on the bank, and the air is cool in autumn. In winter, the earth is cold and quiet.

The lake is shrouded in mystery. When people come here, they can only speak in a soft voice. If they shout loudly, there will be wind and rain in an instant, and hail will suddenly come. Therefore, people call it charming lake. In fact, this is because the dense fog with saturated water over the lake area condenses into rain and hail when encountering sound waves. In the past, when there was a severe drought, the people at the foot of the mountain prepared sacrifices and rain gear and went to the lake to pray for rain. People set up sacrifices, put up awnings, and then sang and danced. In a moment, they listened to orders. Dark clouds rose over the lake, and wind and rain followed.

Accommodation and transportation

There are nature reserves and Daoban near yaojiaping for accommodation.

Liuku is the capital of Nujiang Su Autonomous Prefecture. About the route: you can start from Kunming, go westward through Xiaguan, an important town in western Yunnan, more than 500 kilometers along the Nujiang River to Liuku (the cost of bus is about 200 yuan), then charter a bus in Liuku to Pianma Town, Lushui County, and finally walk to obedient lake. Note: obedient lake is located in the core area of Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve. Non staff members can go there only after being approved by the State Council. The road from Lushui to Tingming lake is in bad condition, not only through the steep canyon, but also through the dense bamboo, shrub and vast forest sea.
