Chongqing Telecom school

In March 1950, a training course for postal personnel of Dongchuan post administration was held at the original site of the general post office of the Ministry of communications during the Anti Japanese war.

In January 1951, the postal personnel training course of Dongchuan postal administration was transformed into southwest branch of Posts and telecommunications.

In March 1953, the Southwest Branch of Posts and Telecommunications established Chongqing post and Telecommunications School.

In May 1955, Chongqing post and telecommunication school was renamed Chongqing telecommunication school.

Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications

In March 1959, Chongqing telecommunication school was upgraded to Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications.

In 1962, Sichuan University of Posts and Telecommunications (University Class) was merged into Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications, and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (technical secondary school class) was merged into Sichuan University of Posts and telecommunications.

In April 1970, Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications was transformed into 529 factory of the General Administration of telecommunications.

In July 1973, it was rebuilt into the Ninth Research Institute of the Ministry of Posts and telecommunications, and still served as the training task for postgraduates. During this period, Academician Wu Hequan, President of the Chinese Academy of engineering, studied and worked in the Institute.

In May 1979, the Ministry of Education approved the restoration of the 529 factory of the General Administration of telecommunications to Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications, and the resumption of undergraduate and postgraduate enrollment and teaching in Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications.

In August 2013, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council approved Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications as the doctoral degree awarding unit. In October, Chongqing Chongyou Xinke Communication Technology Co., Ltd. upgraded to set up "national post doctoral research workstation".

In March 2015, the University was approved as the first "innovative talents international cooperation training project" in Chongqing to cultivate 5g talents, becoming the first national level project of international cooperation and high-end talents joint training in Chongqing.

In January 2016, Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications and Nanyang University of technology planned to jointly set up the joint ICT Engineering Research Institute of Chongqing post NTU to cooperate with the construction of "China Singapore (Chongqing) strategic interconnection demonstration project".

In May 2016, the "Chongqing Branch of China Unicom College" jointly constructed by China Unicom was unveiled in Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications. In December, the Ministry of industry and information technology of the people's Republic of China approved the resolution of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications was officially accepted as an academic member of ITU.

In November 2017, Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications was awarded the first national civilized campus.

In July 2018, the University was rated as "national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience university" by the Ministry of education.
