Jiangnan Orchid Garden

Jiangnan orchid garden is a special garden for cultivation and ornamental orchids. In 1989, it was listed as China Orchid germplasm resources protection and research center by Chinese botanical society. With luxuriant vegetation, scattered pavilions, elegant layout, orchid fragrance in all seasons, the garden is a beautiful place for enjoying orchid and drinking tea.

Jiangnan Orchid Garden

Jiangnan Lanyuan is located in Qimei road under Guangfu Temple of Yuantouzhu scenic spot in Wuxi, covering an area of 2.5 hectares. It was founded in 1987 and basically completed in 1988. The opening ceremony was held in the spring of 1989, and the Chinese spring orchid exhibition was held here. Jiangnan orchid garden has a large number of top-grade orchids, and a large number of calligraphy and paintings of celebrities of past dynasties. It has a leisure place, winning by quietness and elegance. It has the artistic conception of luxuriant forest, bamboo and winding water. The architectural style of green tile and powder wall, simple and free from vulgarity, advocating nature, reflects the elegant and bright characteristics of Jiangnan Water Town.

Structural features

Wuxi has a long history of orchid art, which flourished among the people in the Qing Dynasty. Yuantouzhu has introduced more than 50 genera, 180 species and thousands of pots of orchids. A blue tile and pink wall orchid garden with Jiangnan style courtyard architecture has been built, including Guoxiang Pavilion, Liuxiang Pavilion, Liufang stream, incense curtain and other scenic spots. Lush forest and bamboo, clear water, orchid everywhere. The entrance to the garden is a stele Gallery leaning against the wall. The wall is inlaid with orchid paintings of historical celebrities such as Wang Xianzhi, Wen Zhengming, Zheng Banqiao and Wu Changshuo. Southern hillside, rocky, meandering streams, verdant trees, is the cultivation area of orchids. A group of halls with Lanju as the center are places to enjoy orchids. Orchid exhibits are displayed on the round platform, square table and high foot tea table. Guoxiang Pavilion is built on the surface of water. The shade shed has different customs, with platform, curved corridor, or let orchids grow naturally in the stream, stone gap, or epiphytic between trees and shrubs, forming a wonderful secluded environment.

It is divided into four districts: vestibule, orchid room, exhibition shade and art garden. The main scenic spots are Guoxiang Pavilion, Lanju, lvyunxuan, Liufang stream, Liuxiang Pavilion, Xiaolan Pavilion, etc. Nearly thousands of orchid varieties and tens of thousands of plants are preserved in the garden, which is the only orchid planting resources research and protection center in China approved by the Chinese botanical society. The entrance gate of the orchid garden is located diagonally opposite to the west end of the Sino Japanese Friendship forest of cherry blossoms. A residential garden gate is set in the middle of the high pink wall. On the lintel of the gate is Kuang Yaming's gold inscription "Jiangnan Orchid Garden". On both sides of the door are a pair of carved stone lions in Qingtian, which are hidden under the bamboo trees. Entering the garden is a small garden space made up of yellow stone blocks. A group of pavilions and corridors are built according to the wall. The pavilion has "lingering charm" on the forehead. In the middle of the pavilion wall is a stele with the word "Lan" embedded in Wang Xizhi's Doufang. On both sides of the stele is a couplet: "the mountain is quiet, the orchid is in early bloom, the pavilion is quiet, and the bamboo is clear." It is accompanied by Zheng Banqiao's bamboo poems. The eight orchid bamboo inscriptions on the wall of the corridor are made by famous artists Wang Xianzhi, Yan Zhenqing and Zheng Banqiao. Poems, calligraphy, paintings and couplets are wonderful in the world. Turn left and walk along the xiuhuang bamboo path for dozens of steps. There is a space in the bamboo forest. There are several Japanese style cottages, facing the stream and facing the mountain, which are semi open. There are elegant rooms and tea seats in the museum, where visitors can enjoy tea and have a rest. There is an open corridor in the back of the museum. There are six inscriptions embedded in the gallery wall, including Su Dongpo's orchid chanting poems, Chen Yi's orchid painting, and Chen Xinqi's orchid home.

Looking up and down, you can see green bamboos and orchids, fragrant fragrance, deep pool water, lotus beads, indifferent and quiet. At this point, I feel very cool, and the common sense disappears. In front of Guoxiang Museum, there is a bronze mascot of Dushan cattle, which is simple and vivid. The shape of Dushan mountain is like a cow. The bronze of cow can be regarded as the treasure of this mountain. It symbolizes the spirit of Taihu people who are not afraid of tigers. After Guoxiang Pavilion, you can walk through xiuhuang path and turn left. There are Lvyun Pavilion and Linshui pool. There are orchids and various foliage plants in the pavilion. Out of the green Yunxuan, go to the small bridge, turn left to view the rockery waterfall, and there is a national building in the stream Maoting, which is Lanju. Lanju is the main hall of Lanyuan, facing south from north. The space is full of changes. It is divided by vertical partition, bogujia, wuwangkao, screen and other combinations to separate the space, forming a dynamic and static indoor change characteristics. Through the use of corridors, banxuan, pavilions, landscape walls and small courtyards around Lanju, the indoor and outdoor plant communities infiltrate each other, forming a good indoor environment for exhibition and orchid cultivation. All kinds of famous orchids are on display on the mahogany tea table flower rack in the hall all the year round. The famous orchids' handwriting, orchid poetry and orchid paintings are set off against the famous orchids' secluded flowers to achieve the highest and most beautiful realm of orchid appreciation.

To the east of the "Lanju" hall, there is a floating incense corridor. There is a 600 square meter integrated control greenhouse for foliage plants, which was built in 1997. There are more than 150 varieties and nearly 1000 foliage plants in the greenhouse. By imitating the natural ecological environment of tropical rainforest, visitors can see the natural ecological landscape of rich and colorful plants.
