Cold channel

Hanqigou is located in an east-west gully 14 kilometers east of baishitou central scenic spot in Hami, Xinjiang. It is located in the hinterland of the northern foot of tomurti mountain, 20 kilometers east of baishitou, Hami City. The gully obliquely inserts into the karlik mountain from west to East for about 14 km, and the altitude rises from 2200 m to about 3000 m. Along the gully, you can enjoy the forest, alpine meadow, periglacial and glacial landforms and other vertical landscapes. It is suitable for mountain hiking, forest viewing and science exploration.

Here are towering ancient trees, lush plants and mountain springs. The three gullies converge and flow southward along the valley. Even in hot summer, the river is still chilly, so it is named.

Hanqigou is 2200 meters above sea level and about 10 kilometers deep. The mountain is not high and pretty, the forest is green and quiet, and it is a combination of nature and primitive travel. Here, one can enjoy the forest and pines; two can enjoy the scenery of alpine meadow pasture; three can enjoy the glacier landscape.

Hanqigou is one of the main scenic spots in Hami Tianshan scenic area, a national AAA scenic spot.

Forest Park

If we say that the mountain landscape of kushetu mountain (i.e. Tianshan Temple) is a masterpiece of nature through the ages, the forest sea waves and green fields of songshutang are emeralds in the north of the mountain, and the beautiful scenery of white stone is a harbor for people to spend the summer. So when you return to Shannan or go up to the East Tianshan Mountain from Shannan again, and pass through the cold air ditch, you might as well go to the ditch again to have a look. The forest park there will be fascinating and very pleasant.

Hanqi gully is located in the east of Toudaogou, East Tianshan, 62 km away from the newly built Haba highway. Hanqigou River, Donggou River and yeyinggou River meet here to form Tashui River, and then flows southward along the valley to Shichengzi reservoir, becoming an important source of reservoir water storage.

The mouth of the cold air gully connects with the new highway. Before the construction of the new highway, although the road from the north of the mountain can be taken into the ditch, the road is not connected with the south of the mountain, and the cold air ditch is basically closed. It is said that when the first forest surveyors rode into the ditch, it was at the end of autumn and the beginning of winter. Because the mouth of the ditch was narrow and the valley was deep, the cold air gushing from the ditch made people shudder. So people felt it according to this first impression and called it the cold air ditch, which has been used for a long time.

Mountain grassland

The mountain grassland in hanqigou is the summer pasture of herdsmen in Tianshan township. The natural forest here is also a forest resource protected by the state according to law. After the establishment of Hami forest farm in 1950s, hanqigou was once divided into cutting areas. Later, after closing the mountain for afforestation and recuperation, the natural forest resources here were designated as the water conservation forest area of Tianshan Mountain by the state, so that the forest resources were not only stopped cutting, but also fully protected, winning decades of conservation period. By the beginning of the new century, the forest land here has reached 17.071 hectares, including shrubbery and cultivation land. Therefore, hanqigou has a magnificent scenery of verdant trees and towering trees. Someone wrote a poem saying: green hills, shade forests and deep valleys. Where is the fairyland in the world? There are beautiful gardens deep in the mountains.

After the opening of the new Haba highway, with the improvement of traffic conditions, hanqigou has become the nearest natural forest area from Hami to the mountain. In order to protect the original forest here as always, and make the natural scenery in the valley a summer resort shared by people of all ethnic groups, after the development of baishitou scenic spot, hanqigou Forest Park will naturally become another beautiful scenery that people pay attention to.

Landscape resources

The valley is 20 kilometers long. The deeper you go, the wider the valley and the wider the land. Standing at a high place and watching the appearance of the ditch, it can be said that the inside and outside of the ditch is a beautiful green kingdom. The dense mountain forest is green, and the clear mountain springs and streams are also green. After a drizzle, the forest is greener, the grass is fresher, the flowers are more colorful, and the valley is more secluded. It's like being in a wonderful landscape painting.

As the main scenic area of Forest Park, hanqigou takes forest as its theme. The natural forest here is dominated by Siberian larch, mixed with Xueling spruce, also known as white pine. If you go up the hanqigou River, you can see that on the south slope of the river, from the bottom of the ditch to the top of the mountain, there are almost the same coniferous forest (i.e. Siberian larch), and on the gentle slope of the North Bank of the river, there are massive shrubberies. There are juniper, juniper, birch forest, rose and other shrubs. The diversity and uniform distribution of these species do not show any man-made traces. However, they are skillfully cut, exquisitely carved, and made by nature, which makes the whole valley look like a huge mountain garden. Stroll here, looking up at the four fields, the vigorous and straight green pines and cypresses, with different looks, or Qingdai, or dark green, or Youbi, or verdant. On the age of trees, most of them are graceful and in full bloom. Some of them are old, but they still look like they are standing on the mountain. It seems that they are still proud to announce to the world that they are still the masters of the mountain.

It's the most comfortable place for people to have a rest in the forest. Listen to the chirp of the tits, watch the dancing of the flowers, and feel the coolness of the mountain wind, so as to dispel the fatigue and make people feel relaxed and happy.

Here, if we continue to go up along the river, we can further satisfy people's desire to explore. It is said that at the end of the ditch, you can walk up to the alpine pasture in selwan; at the middle of the river, you can enjoy the mountain spring, waterfall and wetland at the source of the river. Although the fall of the waterfall is not big, there is no spectacular momentum of "flying down 3000 feet", sometimes big and sometimes small, but it is also a rare scene of mountains and rivers in the depth of the mountains. If you are not afraid of the rugged mountain road, you can also get to the foot of the snow mountain and do a snow mountain adventure tour.
