Jinhua Alsophila spinulosa nature reserve is a provincial nature reserve approved by Sichuan Provincial People's Government in 1987. In sifangjinggou, Jinhua Township, 48 kilometers southwest of Rongxian City, there is Alsophila spinulosa, also known as tree fern, a "living fossil" that appeared in Carboniferous, 300 million years ago, 100 million years earlier than dinosaurs. It is one of the eight first-class key protected plants in China. Some data show that Alsophila spinulosa is a precious ancient plant, which is only sporadically distributed in China all over the world. Jinhua Township in Rong County of Zigong is one of the few areas where Alsophila spinulosa is concentrated in China.

brief introduction

Jinhua Alsophila Natural Reserve was established in October 1986 with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's government. The total area of the reserve is 2200 mu, of which the tourism development zone covers an area of 1200 mu. It is rich in water resources. The Alsophila spinulosa group, which is composed of more than 16000 Alsophila spinulosa trees, is located in deep mountains and canyons. The distribution area is 4 km long. The plants are generally 2-3 meters, the highest is 6-7 meters, and the trunk diameter is 20-30 cm.

The shape of Alsophila spinulosa is unique and beautiful. The leaves growing radially at the top of the trunk are like phoenix tail. Some of them grow independently, and some two or three of them are combined together. The branches are luxuriant and the sun is blocked, forming a very beautiful landscape.
