Shiyang Confucius Temple
Shiyang Confucius Temple is located in Shiyang Town, 36 kilometers west of Dayao County. It is also known as the bronze statue of Confucius in Dayao. It was built in the Ming Dynasty, and now has the Dacheng hall, Chongsheng hall and other ancient buildings. Among them, the most striking one is the bronze statue of Confucius in Dacheng hall, which is 2.3 meters high and weighs about 3 tons. It is rare in Confucian temples all over the world. This is the largest existing bronze statue of Confucius.

The building scale of Confucius Temple is very grand, covering an area of 6584 square meters and a building area of 1616.8 square meters. The main building is arranged on the central axis, and the subsidiary buildings are placed on both sides. The main body of the building complex is Dacheng hall, with East veranda, West veranda, Xiangxian temple, Minghuan temple on both sides, and Zhuzi Pavilion, cangsheng Pavilion and other buildings on the outside. The structure is rigorous, the layout is symmetrical and grand.
Shiyang Confucius Temple is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. It was built in the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty (1368 AD). After more than 600 years of wind and rain, the main hall is composed of Zhuzi Pavilion, chanting Pavilion, Xiangxian temple, moon arch bridge, marble murals, stone carvings, etc., covering an area of nearly 1000 square meters. The construction is quaint and precise. The top of the whole temple is covered with yellow, red and green glaze. The door is carved with flowers and plants, exquisite and unique, dragon, Phoenix, lion and tiger, flower, bird, fish and insect, pine, cypress and vine, and the color paintings are neat and vivid.

The top of Dacheng hall is covered with yellow, green, blue and three color glazed tiles. The doors, windows and wooden columns are painted with red lacquer. The whole building is decorated with carved beams and painted buildings. On the top of the door of Dacheng hall are nine plaques inscribed by emperors and celebrities of past dynasties, such as "model of all ages", "with heaven and earth", "Shengji Dacheng" and "Si min Zai Zi". On the 1.6m high platform in the center of Dacheng hall, there is a bronze statue of Confucius cast in 1708. The bronze statue, with a crown on its head and Chaohu in its hand, is dignified and upright. Its height is about 2.3 meters, and its weight is about 2500 kg. In terms of its weight, its size, its exquisite casting technology, and its good preservation, it is unparalleled in China. There are statues of seventy-two sages of Confucius in the East and the West. The seventy-two sages have different shapes and are lifelike. There is also a well-known fengshijiejing relief in the Confucius Temple. The relief is composed of 6 pieces of marble. It is 2.2 meters high and 4.1 meters wide. There are more than 80 figures and 28 horses in the relief. It was carved in the Juyue of the 21st year of Daoguang (September 1842). The upper part of the picture is the famous Fu of Shiyang, the middle part is the scenery of Shiyang, and the lower part is the historical event of Zhang Hu's attack on Shiyang in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.
The bronze statue of Confucius in the temple was cast in the Kangxi period and lasted for nine years. With a height of 2.3 meters and a net weight of 2.5 tons, he wears a glazed jade crown on his head and holds an ivory Wat in his hand. He sits in the middle of Dacheng hall. It is the most famous bronze statue of Confucius in China. It is unique in size, shape and craftsmanship.
