Taibai Tower

There are four Taibai buildings in China: Jining Taibai building, Ma'anshan Taibai building, Shexian Taibai building and Li Bai's former residence in Qinglian town, Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province.

The Taibai building in Jining is solemn and quiet, the Taibai building in Ma'anshan is solemn and brilliant, and the Taibai building in Shexian is simple and elegant. Among them, Li Bai lived in Jining for more than 20 years, drinking and writing poems in Taibai's upstairs every day. Li Bai was called up by Emperor Xuanzong here, and returned here after being granted by Emperor Xuanzong. Therefore, Jining Taibai building is most closely related to Li Bai.

Taibai building is one of the famous historical and cultural buildings in China. Its long history has always witnessed the inheritance of Li Bai culture in Jining. It is a cultural landmark in Jining people's mind for generations.

Development history

Taibai building, the taibaijiu restaurant, is a restaurant run by Helan in the Tang Dynasty. Its original location is located in the east gate of the ancient city. Li Bai, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty, moved from Anlu, Hubei Province, to Rencheng (Jining) with his wife Xu and daughter Pingyang in the 24th year of Kaiyuan reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (736 A.D.), and lived in a restaurant before "often having dinner with comrades on restaurant days".

When Li Bai died nearly 100 years, Tang Yize Chung Tong Tong (two ad), Wu Xingren Shen Guang passed Jining, the seal of the building "taibaijiu" plaque, "Li Hanlin restaurant" notes, "Tai Baijiu" fame and spread in the future generations.

The building was rebuilt and repaired in song, Jin and Yuan Dynasties. When the Jizhou river was excavated in 1282 A.D. from the Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty to the 19th year of the Yuan Dynasty, Rencheng city was moved northward to the present site. In the early Ming Dynasty, the wall was changed from clay to brick. In the 24th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1591 AD), di Chong, the commander of Zuowei in Jining, rebuilt Taibai building. According to the original building style, he moved to the east wall of Nanmen tower (the current address), removed the word "wine" and renamed it "Taibai building", which has been handed down to the present day.

Taibai building is built on the city wall with a height of three feet and eight feet. It faces south. It has ten rooms and two floors. It is a magnificent building with a bucket arch and cornice. It is an ancient pavilion style building. There is a statue of Li Bai on it. There are many steles. The door of the building faces west and is surrounded by a wall. Over the past 600 years, due to years of disrepair and previous wars, it has been damaged to a certain extent. At the beginning of liberation, it was rebuilt on the original site. Today, Taibai building is still facing south, 7 rooms wide, 80 meters long from east to west, 13 meters deep from north to South and 15 meters high. The building is a two-story Xieshan style building with double eaves, surrounded by green bricks, grey tiles and Zhulan veranda, covering an area of more than 4000 square meters. Under the eaves of the second floor, there is a regular script plaque with the words "Taibai building" on it.

Around the courtyard, pines and cypresses set off, flowers and trees supporting sparse, square brick floor, flower wall around, winding steps, simple and elegant. On the top of the north wall of the main hall, there are four big character stone inscriptions of "poetry, wine, heroes" written by people of Ming Dynasty. The characters are rich and bold. Under the inscriptions are "three gongs portrait stone" engraved on the whole body of Li Bai, Du Fu and he Zhizhang. Li Bai is in the middle, Du Fu is on the left and he Zhizhang is on the right. The lines are smooth, romantic and elegant. The north wall is also inlaid with two pairs of couplets. One is written by Luo Zhenyu

There is also a Bust Statue of Li Bai in the middle of the main hall on the first floor. On the top of the statue is a horizontal plaque of "poetic immortal drunk saint". On both sides of the couplet is "drink heavily, spit out the rainbow, drink drunk and kiss the water of the three rivers".

Li Bai's life is written on the walls. The hall on the second floor is now a painting and calligraphy exhibition. In the corridor and courtyard of the building, there are more than 40 stone inscriptions, such as "Li Bai Ren Cheng Xian Ting Bi Ji" and "Deng Tai Bai Lou" written by Emperor Qianlong since the Tang Dynasty, as well as the precious "spectacular" Dou Zi square stele written by Li Bai.

In the building, there are three horizontal lines of "qingpingdiao" written by Li Bai drunk in the first year of Tang Tianbao (742 A.D.) and a poem paste of "sending congratulations to BA Guiyue" written by Kong Jisu in Qufu during the Qianlong period. There are also a long volume of Du Fu's "eight Immortals in drinking" written by Zhu Yunming in the Ming Dynasty. In addition, there are Li Bai's collections and articles compiled by famous artists of past dynasties, as well as dozens of works by famous contemporary calligraphers and painters.

Special funds for reconstruction

You can have a panoramic view of the city of Jining. Wang Shizhen, a famous poet of the Qing Dynasty, said in his poem "climbing Taibai building in the rain":

Kaiyuan's past is long. There are old restaurants in the south of the city.

Today's Taibai building was rebuilt on the old city wall in 1952 with special funds from the people's government. The reconstructed Taibai building, together with the platform, covers an area of 4000 square meters. The building has two floors, double eaves, Xieshan style, brick and wood structure. Under the eaves of the second floor, a fan-shaped "Taibai building" regular script inscribed plaque is suspended in the middle.

On the top of the north wall of the main hall, there is a large stone plaque with the characters "poetry, wine and heroes" written by poets of the Ming Dynasty. Under it, there are more than 60 steles inscribed with the whole body of Li Bai, Du Fu and he Zhizhang. In the corridor and courtyard, there are more than 60 steles, such as "Li Bai Ren Cheng Ting Bi Ji", praise from scholars and Fu since the Tang Dynasty, and Emperor Qianlong's "Deng Taibai Lou". There is a rare "spectacular" square stele written by Li Bai.

In 1987, Jining City established Libai Memorial Hall in Taibai building. Mount today's Taibai building, overlooking the new Taibai district's antique buildings, simple and elegant, exquisite; Yudai bridge crosses the ancient canal from north to south, connecting with the new residential district.

After the transformation of Henan Bank Street is a beautiful cultural landscape, restaurants, Jining famous food, everywhere. Taibailou square is paved with colored bricks, the winding corridor along the ancient Yunhe River, the endless stream of tourists, the old people playing chess and childish games. It is really a good place for people's leisure. Xiushui City, a commercial street with Chinese characteristics, is built along the river. It is full of shops, commodities and merchants, which recreates the prosperity of that year. As night falls, the lights are shining, which attracts people to linger and forget to return. It's really "climbing the tower, forgetting both the favor and the disgrace, relaxed and happy"!

Taibailou is located on the North Bank of the ancient canal in Jining City, Shandong Province. The name of Taibai building has been handed down for more than a thousand years. It is one of the eight ancient sceneries in Rencheng (now Jining). It is now a key cultural relic protection unit in Shandong Province. Taibai building in Jining was named as the 14th new member at the 8th annual meeting and 10th forum of the professional committee of historical and cultural buildings of the Chinese society of cultural relics.
