Gaoyu granny Temple

Gaoyu granny temple is located in Gaoyu Town, 7 kilometers north of Cixian county. Commonly known as "Pingdingshan", it is the official grandmother temple in Cizhou, which is jointly built by Cixian, Linzhang and Cheng'an.

Gaoyu granny temple is located in Gaoyu Town, 7 kilometers north of Cixian city. Commonly known as "Pingdingshan", it is the official grandmother temple in the former Cizhou. The temple covers an area of more than 10 mu. Behind the mountain gate, there are three courtyards, the middle courtyard is Yuhuang hall and wusheng Pavilion, the east courtyard is Sanhuang hall and Buddha Hall, and the West courtyard is Bixia palace and laomu hall. The temple has a long history, strong folk beliefs, large-scale construction, and is a Taoist Holy Land in Cixian county.

Legend

There are many different opinions about the origin of Gaoyu granny temple. The most mythical one is the legend of "embroidered shoes".

It is said that a long time ago, there was an immortal named Jinding Zhenren, who was honored as "Jinding grandfather". One day, Jinding grandfather was travelling in the clouds. When he passed Gaoyu, he found that there was plenty of aura, fertile land, flat terrain and rich water resources, so he was ready to settle the immortal house here. He took out his precious bow, put on his golden arrow, and shot to the ground, so the golden light was shining ten miles around, which was a sign of the immortals, indicating that the land had been owned by granddad Jinding and he was ready to build an immortal's mansion here when he was free. After granddad Jinding left, Granny Gao Yu also came here and took a fancy to this Fengshui treasure land. Unfortunately, seeing the precious arrow left by granddad Jinding, she knew that it had been occupied by granddad Jinding. But Fang Baodi was so attractive that Granny Gao Yu had a plan. She came to granddad Jinding's arrow, pulled out the arrow, buried her embroidered shoes in the soil, and put the arrow on the embroidered shoes. Without any trace, she flew away. After a period of time, Jinding grandfather and Gaoyu grandmother met here. Jinding grandfather said that this is the geomantic treasure land he saw first. Gao Yu's grandmother said that she was the first to take over, and asked Jinding's grandfather to give reasons. Granddad Jinding said that I left my precious arrow here. Grandma Gao Yu said that I left my embroidered shoes here. Granddad Jinding pulled out his precious arrow and found that there was an embroidered shoe on it. Granny Gao Yu said, when you shot, my embroidered shoes were already buried here. Who in the end took the lead. Granddad Jinding knew that Granny Gaoyu had set him up, but he couldn't find any other evidence. He also admired granny Gaoyu in his heart and said, "good men don't fight with women" (it's said that "good men don't fight with women" comes from here, but there is no historical data), so he flew West. Granny Gao Yu built granny Gao Yu temple here. Since then, the weather has been smooth and the people are happy.

Later, granddad Jinding went to Lufeng mountain in the west of Cixian county and built the Jinding temple, which is the famous little Jinding temple in Cixian county. Because he was worried about grandma Gaoyu and was afraid that she would not live well, when he built the Jinding temple, the door of the temple was facing east (all the temple doors in our country are facing south), looking at grandma Gaoyu day by day.
