Xuefeng cemetery
Xuefeng cemetery (also known as Xuefeng martyrs cemetery), built in May 1945, covers an area of 120 mu. It is the resting place of Peng Xuefeng, former commander of the fourth division of the New Fourth Army and commander of Huaibei military region. It is a key cultural relic protection unit, a key martyr memorial building protection unit and a patriotism and national defense education base for all in Jiangsu Province.
Brief introduction of cemetery
Xuefeng cemetery (also known as Xuefeng martyrs cemetery) is located in the half town of Sihong County, near the beautiful Hongze Lake scenery. It is about 25 kilometers away from the county seat and 70 kilometers away from Suqian City. It is a cultural scenic spot. During the Anti Japanese War, the fourth division of the new fourth army fought bravely against the Japanese aggressors and bandits in order to establish the base areas of Henan, Anhui and the Soviet Union. It won one victory after another and won the support and love of the people. In August 1944, Mr. Peng Xuefeng led the western expedition to recover the land lost in the west of Jinpu road. On September 11, he was shot and killed in the battle. He was only 37 years old. The body was buried in February 1945 in the western suburb of the city. Cemetery construction
In May of the same year, the Party committee and the administrative office of the Huaibei liberated area built a cemetery at the tomb, covering an area of 157 mu. Liu Ruilong, director of the Huaibei administrative office, was the director of the Construction Committee, and Qian Zhengying was the chief of the public works section. The tomb of general Peng Xuefeng, the memorial tower of Anti Japanese soldiers and the Fangcao Pavilion were built to record more than 4000 martyrs. Gather a rockery to form a crescent pool. It became a memorial garden in the Anti Japanese base area. At the end of 1946, the tomb of general Peng Xuefeng was demolished, the soldiers' statues of the New Fourth Army on the top of the memorial tower were destroyed, and the Fangcao pavilion was burned. The tomb of general Peng Xuefeng was rebuilt in 1949. After liberation, there were memorial halls and stele corridors. In the corridor of the stele are elegiac couplets inscribed by the revolutionaries of the older generation such as Mao Zedong and Zhu De and the veterans of the New Fourth Army. There are evergreen pines and cypresses in the garden, which symbolizes the eternal spirit of martyrs. Today, the cemetery is solemn, the buildings are simple and elegant, the trees are green and the grass is green. Memorial buildings and cultural relics have high revolutionary historical value and far-reaching significance in Memorial and education.

According to incomplete statistics, more than 100000 people come to the garden every year to worship, pay homage to, and visit, and the social benefits are remarkable.
