Located between zhenbeitai and hongshixia, 4km north of the city, it is commonly known as "trading city". In the early years of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, atahan, the leader of Tatar, negotiated peace with the Ming Dynasty. They discussed opening up along the border, setting up 11 mutual markets and exchanging goods needed by both sides. Yima City was one of the mutual markets.
The city was first built in 1564, the 43rd year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty. It is rectangular, 250 meters long from north to South and 150 meters wide from east to west. It is built with rammed earth. The base of the wall is 6.5 meters wide, the height is about 6 meters, and the top is about 3 meters wide. At that time, Han merchants traded tea, cloth, silk, tobacco, salt and so on, and prohibited grain and iron. The Mongolians traded in skins, fluff, cattle and sheep, and banned horses. After the 15th day of the first month of every year, the market will be opened on the selected day, and the exchange will take place on the next day. People and animals will meet and the trade will be prosperous. The merchants dug kilns on the spot, set up accounts, accommodation trade, showing a grand occasion of "when tribute city period, thousands of riding.". In the early Qing Dynasty, Yulin city was abandoned because it was moved to Yulin city.
