Historical evolution
In the Han Dynasty, Shipai belonged to Jiangxia County, the governor of Jingzhou.
During the Three Kingdoms period, it was named Jingcheng, belonging to jiangxia'e, Jingzhou, Wu state.
In the northern and Southern Dynasties, it was named Anju County, belonging to Jian'an county.
In Sui Dynasty, Anju county was changed to zhaoqiu County in the first year of Daye (605). Zhaoding county was changed to Jingtai County and Dangyang county was abandoned.
In the Tang Dynasty, in the eighth year of Zhenguan (634), the land of Jingtai was merged into Jingmen, belonging to Jingmen County, Jingzhou, the east of Shannan.
In the Five Dynasties, it belonged to the Late Jin Dynasty. Gao Jichang, the king of Nanping, established his residence in Jingtai. It belonged to the Jingmen army in Jinghu North Road.
