Biefeng ancient temple
Biefeng ancient temple, Xiangpu Township, Yixi Town, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, is 5 kilometers northeast of the city. It was founded in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) by Cui Daoliang. From 1983 to 2001, it was rebuilt and expanded by the abbot Shi Honglian and Shi Xinyuan. A wide road with concrete pavement was opened to the front of the temple. The mountain gate is towering, pavilions are everywhere, the ancient scenery is new, and the famous temple is radiant.
Brief introduction of ancient temple
Biefeng temple is located in the east of biefeng mountain, Xiangpu Township, Yixi Town, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province. It was originally named Tianhu temple. Five kilometers northeast of the city, it was founded by Cui Daoliang in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It was rebuilt by Wu Liangji in 1684 (the 22nd year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty). It was rebuilt by Yuqing society in 1862 (the first year of Tongzhi), and was inscribed with "biefeng ancient temple". From 1983 to 2001, the abbots Shi Honglian and Shi Xinyuan raised funds to rebuild and expand the temple, and opened a wide cement road to the front of the temple.
Scale of ancient temples
The ancient temple of biefeng is surrounded by 18 peaks, so it is called "biefeng". The total construction area of the temple is about 2000 square meters. It is divided into three parts: Mountain Gate, gate, Yuantong Hall (the main hall of Bodhisattva), two chambers (Shouguang hall in the East and zushi hall in the West), sutra Pavilion (two floors, each floor is 200 square meters), three pavilions and one release pool. In front of the temple, there is Guanyin Pavilion in the west, biefeng Pavilion in the South and Tianhu Pavilion in the East. The temple is divided into front, middle and back, with five rooms wide. The front seat is the gate Pavilion, and the middle seat is yuantongbao hall. The plaque of "yuantongbao hall" was written by Wu Dianfeng, a famous Chaozhou person in the Ming Dynasty. It is dedicated to master Guanyin, and the back seat is the "Great Hall" dedicated to Sakyamuni. In front of the temple, there is a free pond with an area of nearly 3000 square meters. The water in the pond does not dry up all the year round. Each value lotus blooming season, fragrant overflowing, refreshing, so that pilgrims visitors summer to eliminate. Temple by the mountains and rivers, high and low scattered, simple and dignified. In recent years, pavilions and pavilions have been built here, and mountaineering roads have been built, making the scenery more beautiful.
Evolution of ancient temples
There used to be a chime in the temple, and the "Tianhu Temple" was lost. It is the Taoist temple of Guanyin Bodhisattva. In 1684 (the 23rd year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty), Wu Liangji, an ancient city, was rebuilt and bought a house to worship incense lanterns. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, it was called "biefeng nunnery". In 1862 (the first year of Tongzhi), Yuqing society rebuilt and inscribed "biefeng ancient temple".
Ten years of "Cultural Revolution", the temple for Yixi Xiangpu youth farm use. In October 1976, after the Cultural Revolution ended, Yuyu clarified and Buddhism revived. In 1982, Shanxin built a Putong tower on the south side of the temple. It was rebuilt and expanded in 1983. In 1991, the reconstruction of the main hall of Bodhisattva was completed in mid autumn. The area of the main hall was larger than that of the original one. Thirty two Bodhisattva statues were built on both sides, showing the solemnity of the hall and the inscription. After the last renovation in 1997, the existing buildings include Yuantong hall, Daxiong hall and Sutra collection hall.
Ancient temple culture
Biefeng ancient temple is located in biefeng mountain, Xiangpu village, Yixi Town, facing Hanjiang River, enjoying the beautiful scenery of Fengcheng in the South and surrounded by mountains. Biefeng mountain was originally called Fengqi mountain. In the Ming Dynasty, there was Fengqi kapok, one of the eight scenic spots in Chaozhou. In Han Jiang Ji in the late Qing Dynasty, Lin Dachuan recorded that "Fengqi mountain is another peak mountain, ten miles from the northeast of the city. It is a scenic spot with beautiful peaks, and scholars often visit it". There is "Fengqi tower" in the mountain. In the temple, there is a poem couplet written by Qiu changzuo that "when you cross the bridge, you will feel less dust in the city, and when you go to the temple, you will know how long the day will be." Chen Xi, a scholar of Chaozhou in the Song Dynasty, wrote a poem on the wall: "which is right or wrong in a thousand years, Gao Wu builds bamboo." There is a slight evening breeze. If you want to know the Phoenix in the ancient temple, there are no swallows flying in the hall. " It can be seen that the ancient temple has a long history.
Qiu Fengjia, a patriotic poet at the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, visited biefeng temple and chanted: "it's quiet to look for the mountain, but Buddha is busy in the mountain.". Biefeng temple is a famous ancient temple.
Ancient temple tour
When you visit biefeng ancient temple, you must pass through the Chan temple road with nine peaks and eighteen turns. Along the way, there are "Jidu memorial archway", "Guanyun Pavilion", "Guanyin Pavilion", "compassion Pavilion", "Tianhu Pavilion", "biefeng Pavilion" and "cicada Pavilion" for tourists to have a rest. The ancient temple is surrounded by green trees, winding paths, pavilions, release pools and flower beds.
Biefeng ancient temple is one of the most famous ancient temples in Chaozhou. At present, most of the citizens in Chaozhou go to the mountain to offer incense at least twice a year. Even people from nearby cities such as Shantou and Jieyang come to offer incense, which shows the popularity of the ancient temple.
Tourism transportation
Chaozhou bus terminal is located opposite Chaozhou Hotel on Chaofeng road in the city. It is mainly for long-distance buses to cities in the province, Fujian and Jiangxi. Every day, Chaozhou has more than one bus to Shantou, which connects Chaozhou and Shantou closely. The long-distance bus from the bus terminus to Shantou terminus runs every 10 minutes, and the fare is 10 yuan when the journey is 50 minutes; the long-distance bus from Guangzhou departs on time, and the fare is 160 yuan when the journey is 5 hours; the long-distance bus from Shenzhen Luohu bus station takes 4.5 hours, and the fare is 130 yuan.
Ximen station, located diagonally opposite to Chaozhou Central Hospital, is also a long-distance passenger station in Chaozhou, mainly for long-distance buses in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and other provinces.
Best travel time
Chaozhou, located in the east of Guangdong Province, has a subtropical marine monsoon climate, with relatively high temperature in July and August. But throughout the year, the average temperature is 21 ℃. Chaozhou has abundant rainfall, mild climate and evergreen all year round.
