Located in Lingtai County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, it was built in the 11th century B.C. during the Shang and Zhou dynasties. It was built after King Wen of Zhou conquered the MISHU kingdom in today's Baili Town, Lingtai County, for worshiping heaven and enjoying with the people. Lingtai has a long history. The ancient Lingtai is located in Lingtai County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province. It was built in the 11th century B.C. during the Shang and Zhou dynasties. It was built by King Wen of Zhou after conquering the MISHU kingdom in today's Baili town of Lingtai county. It was built for worshiping heaven and enjoying with the people. In the Tang Dynasty, it was officially named the county. The original "Lingtai" was built from north to south, and the platform was rammed with soil. In history, "Lingtai" was destroyed twice and rebuilt twice. The "Lingtai" rebuilt in 1933 is made of black bricks, with a width of 12.3 meters at the bottom and a height of 12.3 meters. The platform is divided into two layers, with a Bagua Pavilion on the top and a statue of King Wen of Zhou inside. It is said that when it was built, two red crowned cranes came from the East and flew around the platform for three consecutive days. They lived on the ancient cypresses of Wenwang temple, which caused a sensation in the county and was regarded as an auspicious omen. According to records, in 1928, in order to build barracks, the military and political authorities at that time uprooted all the old Taiwan, arousing public indignation. In the spring of 1932, initiated by Yang Ziheng, commander of Longdong appeasement and commander of the new Fifth Division of the central army, county magistrate Zhang Dongye recruited migrant workers in 1933 to organize the restoration of his original site. In the autumn of 1933, the Taiwan construction project was completed. It has a profound culture and is known as "the first platform of offering sacrifices to gods in China."

The newly built "Lingtai" faces south, with a bottom width of 18 meters and a height of 33 meters. The platform is divided into three layers. On the top floor of the main hall, there is a statue of King Wen of Zhou. On both sides of the walls, there are large murals, which represent the magnificent scene of King Wen of Zhou's crusade against MISHU. On the bottom of the corridor is a forest of steles, which contains more than 260 inscriptions and plaques of ancient and modern political celebrities.
It has a profound culture and is known as "the first platform of offering sacrifices to gods in China."
Lingtai county is not only named after "Lingtai", but also known as "cultural relic county" with Shang and Zhou cultural relics as the main body. It is named as "historical and cultural city" by Gansu Province. Lingtai county is rich in a large number of important sites and precious historical relics, which are treasures of the Chinese nation. More than 240 ancient sites, 30 ancient tombs, 6 ancient city sites and 18 fossil sites have been discovered, and nearly 10000 pieces of cultural relics have been excavated, of which more than 3000 pieces have been collected by cultural relics departments at or above the provincial level.
