Tonggui Bridge
Tonggui bridge is an ancient bridge in the northwest of Suzhou city. It is located in the south of the east section of Shantang street outside changmenwai. It crosses Shantang River and is a single hole stone arch bridge.

Tonggui bridge is located in the north of Dongyang Anbang, across Shantang River, and Shantang street in the north of the bridge.
It is the third bridge of Shantang River from east to West (Shantang bridge in the East and Xingqiao in the West).
Place name allusion
It means a bridge for noble people to cross. "Danwu notes" says: "mountain pond Wu Wenduan Gong Yipeng and Bodhi Temple former Guo Fangbo are friendly. They pass by day and night, and build bridges for communication. They are called Tonggui." In the second year of Longqing in the Ming Dynasty, five colors of auspicious clouds appeared on the bridge, so it is also called "Ruiyun bridge".
Historical evolution
Built in the early years of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty, it is an arched stone slab bridge with ring holes. It was rebuilt in 1640. It was rebuilt in 1788 and rebuilt in 1880.
Bridge status
On the side of the bridge, there are steles, writing everywhere, and the bridge fence is engraved with the reconstruction time. It has a span of 7.2 meters, a width of 2.3 meters and a length of 19 meters.
It still retains the style of the old bridge after reconstruction. The Tonggui bridge section of Shantang street used to be a prosperous business district in Suzhou during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Beside the bridge, there was Wu Yipeng, the Minister of the Ministry of official in Nanjing in the Ming Dynasty. Tonggui beaver is one of the seven beavers in the mountain pond.
Cultural relic value
The bridge is a typical granite arch bridge of Qing Dynasty in Suzhou, which is in harmony with the surrounding scenery of Shantang street. It is an excellent scenic spot of Shantang street. Now it is well preserved and has certain cultural value.
