Zhouqiao Datang
The Datang of Zhouqiao was formed in 1824 when the ice broke through the dike. In 1830, the Qing government built an 8-meter-high vertical stone wall along Datang, which is now the auxiliary dike of Hongze Lake. Zhouqiao Datang is the witness of ancient Chinese people's governance of Huaihe River.
History Introduction
According to the inscription of Zhouqiao Datang, on the afternoon of November 12 of the fourth year of Daoguang reign in 1824, the weather suddenly changed, ice formed on the lake, the wind helped the ice, and the waves beat the ice. Finally, the dike of xilanggang in Zhouqiao was washed down, and the pond was 400 meters wide and 27 meters deep. The east of the lake became a vast ocean in an instant. After that, the Qing government spent six years to build this section of Zhouqiao Datang Inner dike. At present, the 730 meter long stonework wall, which has been more than 180 years, is still towering, and has been telling the story of that solemn and stirring history. More than 40 years ago, more than 60 kilometers of levees were full of such masonry walls, and the earliest can be traced back to the Han Dynasty. The existing section is the only remaining ancient levee. Next to this ancient breakwater shelter, we accidentally found that on a very humble stone concrete hook joint, it was clearly engraved with "Weidong brigade must repair the Huaihe River", which was obviously left by a good migrant worker at that time. Although these migrant workers demolished the stone walls of the millennium and the century old masonry walls and built the current facing water revetment, turned the millennium old dam as famous as Dujiangyan into the current levee, and made it a difficult problem for the current levee to declare "world cultural heritage", they completely overcame the flood disaster and really made the levee solid.
Interesting story
Still there, the tablet engraved with Chairman Mao's "we must repair the Huaihe River". According to an expert, it's a genuine Qianlong imperial stele. Its shadow can be seen from the "auspicious clouds" on the top and foot of the stele. 5、 After the reconstruction of the levee in the 1960s, people could not find such a large stone to show their respect for the old people. Since the stone wall of the emperor could not stop the flood, we should shovel it and engrave the "inscription" of the chairman. During the "Cultural Revolution", the red sun was engraved on the top of the monument, and the inscriptions of "wish Chairman Mao a long life" and "deputy commander Lin" were engraved on the back of the monument. After Lin Biao died, the inscription on the back of the monument became an indelible "Scar". It is as like as two peas, who may have known that the later generations would have spelt the tablet and not remember the content of the monument. People found a broken tablet in the tablet tablet, which is exactly the same as the one on the top. Maybe the stele was broken when it was made. The officials were afraid to kill their heads and did not dare to destroy it, so they had to bury it underground. This broken monument is still preserved in the courtyard of management office on the south side of Sanhe Sluice.
