Nanwan Park

Nanwan garden is adjacent to the garrison in Macao, so it is also called garrison garden

. The garden is divided into two parts. One part is located in jialatang street, with trees on the road, flower beds and winding paths. The other part is built in the fence, close to the mountain, with winding paths. The top part is a flat land with children's amusement facilities. 70 years ago, the two parts were originally linked together and surrounded by a fence. In 1928, some of the gardens were turned into streets. The former octagonal pavilion of the Ministry of wine has been transformed into a reading room attached to the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Macao, and the European war memorial hall with columnar structure has been transformed into the site of Macao Disabled Association.

Park overview

South Bay Park is located in front of the garrison camp near the Lisboa Hotel, also known as the garrison garden. It's less than five minutes' walk from Lisboa. The garden is divided into two parts: the lower part is located between Nanwan street and jialatang street; the higher part is further divided into two levels, connected by stone steps, and is located between jialatang and Bingying inclined lane, jiasilan new road and dongwangyangying inclined lane, jiasilan new road and dongwangyangxin street.

There are green trees and flowers in the garden, and there are many stone chairs, among which visitors often sit and rest. Next to the park, the Bajiaoting library, which used to be the wine department of the garden, is now a newspaper reading room attached to the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, a relatively large-scale public newspaper reading room in Macao. The opening hours are from 8 am to 12 noon and from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Structural layout

The high part of Nanwan garden is at the foot of dongyangwang mountain. There is a rather delicate cylindrical building with two stories high. It is a memorial hall for the European war, commemorating the Portuguese army who died in the first World War.

The museum is surrounded by arched doors and windows, the walls are decorated with patterns, and the top is decorated in the shape of a crown. It is now the Disabled Association. There is a small children's playground near it. Every holiday, many families get together here.
