Balagzong Shangri La Grand Canyon Scenic Spot is located at the junction of Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet. Shangri la Grand Canyon used to be called "Bi soil Canyon", and the scenic area is now composed of two sections of scenic areas, namely, niebalagezong Canyon and GEZAN birong canyon. Rock paintings are also distributed on the cliffs on both sides of the canyon. They are mysterious symbols left by the ancestors here, and no one can interpret them up to now. Now you can walk on the plank road of the scenic spot to see the river flowing, the green waves crashing on the bank, experience the drifting in the valley and visit the primitive ancient Tibetan villages.

Shangri la Grand Canyon is also known as "balagezong". The park is located more than 80 kilometers in the northwest of Shangri La County. Because one of the canyons is named "Shangge" and the other is named "Lila", it is called Shangri La Grand Canyon. Main attractions

Gangqu River in the middle of the canyon is squeezed at the bottom of the valley with an altitude of only more than 1000 meters by the new orogeny, while the two sides of the canyon face each other with magnificent peaks as high as 45 kilometers. Balagzong snow mountain at the end of the canyon with an altitude of 5545 meters is one of the three sacred mountains in Kangba area.

In Shangri La Grand Canyon, there is also the largest karst cave in Zhongdian, the red earth immortal cave.

There is a natural footprint on the stone wall at the entrance of the cave with five fingers, which is regarded as a rare strange scene in the world.

Another spring in Shangri La Grand Canyon is called "Shouquan". The spring is deep in the cave. People go to the cave and shout several times. A spring gushes out of the cave. It tastes sweet and is said to cure diseases.

In addition, there is a Tibetan Buddhist temple called "nagala" in the canyon. There are both lamas and nuns in the temple. Unfortunately, it was burned in 1937 and has not yet been restored.

Hongshan gold mine, Bula gold mine and BISANG gold mine in the gorge have been exploited vigorously since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Together with the sand gold produced by the neighboring benzilan, they are called "Cangjin". At that time, the Tusi of Mu family donated 12 million yuan to the emperor for the construction of the Ming Tombs.

Bala Village

Bala is a Tibetan transliteration, meaning a Tibetan village from Batang. It is said that a long time ago, one of the generals under King Gesar was tired of the constant war life.

One day, I dreamt that the three goddesses took him to a fairyland like canyon with mountains, where there was no war or trouble.

The next day, he told the Buddhist teacher about this beautiful dream. The Buddhist teacher told him that this is the will of the snow mountain god, asking you to find a harmonious and peaceful home.

So the general led his family and his men for 981 days and traveled all over the mountains and rivers of Kangba in search of a dream land.

When they crossed the gezong snow mountain in bengbogang, it was late at night. The exhausted people who were short of food and water fainted one by one. When they woke up the next day, they could not help but be pleasantly surprised. The place surrounded by the mountain, isolated from the world, and close to the mountain and water was the ideal home they were looking for and the gezong (white fortress) snow mountain in their dream.

So they settled down here.

Because the general's family is from Batang, it is called Bala village. The snow mountain behind the village is called balag Zong snow mountain.

For thousands of years, they work at sunrise and rest at sunset. They have lived in isolation from the rest of the world for generations.

Shangri la Grand Canyon National Park is composed of two sections of scenic spots, namely nibalagezong Canyon and gezanbirong canyon.

In the past, tourists had to stop here, because there were cliffs on both sides of the river, and there was no way to enter the Grand Canyon along the river. Even Bala villagers could not get to the valley, so people who could not catch sight of it could only meditate.

In this "no way to heaven, no way to earth," more than 2000 meters long cliff cliff, winding through the Shangri La grand canyon cliff plank road, like a flying dragon on the river, extending to the east of GEZAN birong canyon.

Its plants, rocks, soil and water are the original masterpieces of nature. Walking on the horizontal plank road, it seems to enter the Dragon Palace and the dreamland.

Looking up, you can see that the peaks on both sides of the mountain lead straight to the sky, and the cliffs cut straight into the river. The mountains on both sides of the mountain are like the immortal mountain in the painting. The vegetation composed of trees and shrubs such as fragrant wood, alpine oak, Tibetan cypress and spruce fir is verdant and green, dotted the cliffs and surrounded by elegant clouds and fog. Looking at the foot, the river is running and the green waves are ripping on the bank. The landscape and vegetation of the gorge are well preserved. Every pictograph, every beach and cave will bring people into the associative mood, so there are many legends.

According to the old people in Bala village, long ago, there lived water elves in the cliff caves on both sides of the river. They often turned into handsome men to attract passing girls.

In Bala village, there were three girls who went to Yazan to herd cattle. They followed the elves and floated to the cave to listen to the story. Because the story told by the elves was so fascinating, the three girls forgot to go home.

Later, people only found their clothes by the river, but when they touched them, they turned to ashes.

It is said that there is a big diamond-shaped stone on the beach not far above the cave, which is the gem of the water elves. It's just a ghost story.

bodhi tree

This is a thousand year old bodhi tree. It has been through thousands of years. On the magical land of balag Zong, it leans against the cliff and is still lush and vibrant for more than a thousand years, as if in dialogue with history. According to the golden light is the best king Sutra, the bodhi tree has a guardian God, which is called the bodhi tree. The master said that the Phoenix is the patron saint of the tree. Phoenix is the messenger of happiness in the world. Every five hundred years, it will bear all the unhappiness and hatred accumulated in the world, throw itself into the burning fire, and exchange the end of life and beauty for the peace and happiness of the world. Therefore, this tree is also known as "Phoenix Bodhi".

Tibetan Buddhism believes that Bodhi Tree embodies all kinds of virtues. It has the ability to make people realize their wishes and get rid of their guilt. Worshiping the bodhi tree will make the gods who live in it happy, and the wish of bestowing gifts to all living beings will get results. So that people can get rid of all kinds of difficulties and realize their wishes.

Gezong snow mountain

Gezong snow mountain is located at the junction of Shangri La County of Yunnan Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Derong County of Sichuan Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, with an altitude of 5306 meters. It is the 11th peak in Yunnan Province and the first peak in Shangri La County, with no climbing record. Gezong snow mountain is roughly southeast northwest trend, ridge is tooth like, three transverse beams on the southwest side link gezong bensong peak of balagzong snow mountain respectively. Gezongbensong is a pyramid shaped mountain. Affected by the climate, the southwest mountain is seriously eroded by wind and snow, with less snow, and most of the mountain troughs are gravel. Snow can be seen above 4500 meters on the northeast side of the mountain, with snow rock or ice rock mixed upward. There is a saddle at 4600 meters, which is relatively gentle. The main peak of the snow mountain is a cone with a large slope and is difficult to climb. Wanhe cliff, verdant grass, flowers such as weaving, suspected as immortal left field.

Take a bus to Bala Village (16.5km, about 40 minutes), experience the Millennium tribe Bala Village (about 1 hour), take a bus to Yazan (about 20 minutes) and visit Shangri La Grand Canyon (5km plank road, about 1 hour). At the end of plank road, you can choose the same road to return to Yazan parking lot, take a bus to Tongtian gorge, or choose rafting to return to No. 2 Head to Tongtian gorge by car (700 meters suspended plank road, about 40 minutes), and return by car.

Internal transportation

Take bus No.1 or taxi at the gate of Shangri La passenger station to the north gate of dukezong ancient city. The consultation point of dukezong ancient city in balagzong scenic area is next to the parking lot at the north gate of dukezong ancient city. From dukezong ancient city consulting point, take balagzong special line bus to balagzong scenic spot tourist reception center (Shangri La Grand Canyon tourist reception center). Departure time: 8:30 a.m. every day in summer, 9:00 a.m. every day in winter, journey: 1.5-2 hours.

External traffic

Starting from Shangri La City, drive along national highway 214 (Deqin direction) to the fork road at shangqiaotou, Nixi township (about 50 km). There is the giant relief of balagzong scenic spot. Turn right to enter the scenic highway, and then drive 17 km to the tourist reception center of balagzong scenic spot.
