The conditions were good, but his eyes were not good and it was inconvenient for him to go up and down the stairs. Later, he was arranged to live in a small bungalow in the city. The house was built in 1949. After a little simple maintenance, I lived in it. As soon as the rainy season came, there were many leaks. The management personnel applied for a sum of money to repair the house. Huang Kecheng wanted to come to the budget and said seriously, "no, no, don't overhaul it. It's simpler. Where there is air and rain leakage, repair it." The staff couldn't resist him, so they had to act on his advice.
Because the heating boilers and heating pipes are old and the temperature in the house can't go up in winter, the management department plans to transform them into gas-fired boilers, but it takes a sum of money to connect the gas pipes. Huang Kecheng asked the management department whether the people around can use them. The management department said that the investment is too large for the people at present. As a result, Huang Kecheng did not agree with the transformation. The house he lives in is adjacent to the street, with pedestrians and vehicles. It's noisy. The staff suggested asking the management department to move it to a quiet place. Huang Kecheng said, "don't mention it. Isn't it noisy for others to move here?" Later, according to the Secretary's suggestion, the management department planned to heighten the walls and gatehouses near the street, and prepared the materials. Huang Kecheng heard that it would cost 10000 yuan or 20000 yuan, and politely refused. Until his death, the house was never overhauled.
