Five Dragon brick wall of county Confucian Temple

The five dragon brick wall of the county Confucian temple is located in the back street of the big wall in the North Street of the city. It is the former Zhaobi in front of the gate of the Confucian temple in Datong County in the Ming Dynasty. It is said that this wall was built in the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty. Wulongbi is a brick building, 5.7 meters high and 28.5 meters long, which is divided into upper, middle and lower parts.

The lower part is a brick wall seat; the middle wall is inlaid with opposite green bricks, and there are five brick dragon groups on it, each with a diameter of 2.2 meters. The two giant dragons in the center hold their heads high and spray fire beads from their mouths, and the whole dragon body is hidden in the waves. On the west side, a pair of dragon groups hold their heads high and stand up to the west, presenting the heroic posture of playing pearls. On the east side, a pair of dragon heads hover around the center, which seems to be a great take-off. On the top of the brick wall of the wood like building, the brick wall is supported by the brick bucket arch. Under the brick wall, there are eaves. Under the brick wall, there are eight vertical corridor styles. The wall is divided into five main rooms and two ear rooms. Between each vertical corridor style, there are patterns of lotus, figures, etc., which are very moving. There are two huge brick murals on the eight character wall separated from the East and the West. On the west side, there is a fish leaping over the dragon's gate, and on the east side, there is a fish leaping over the dragon's gate. In this way, the world can be inspired to study the book of Confucius and Mencius. Once it is named as the golden list, it is like a carp leaping over the dragon's gate. Wulongbi, with peculiar construction, unique style, novel composition and fine carving, is one of the best brick carving art.
