evolution
Four thousand years ago, Peng Zu was sealed in Xuzhou for offering pheasant soup to Emperor Yao to cure his disease, and the great Peng kingdom was founded. Dapeng village is located at the foot of Dapeng mountain, more than 10 kilometers west of Xuzhou. It is the center of ancient Dapeng Kingdom recorded in literature. Dapeng village, also known as dapengji, has existed since ancient times. In recent years, it used to be called Zhangjing village. Recently, the original name of Dapeng village was officially restored.
The original Pengzu temple was built in the Eastern Han Dynasty. It was restored three times in the Tang Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, including the main hall, East and west side halls. Inside the hall stands the statue of Pengzu, bareheaded and barefoot, about four meters high. In the 1950s, when the old statue was smashed, people found that it was an iron statue with a layer of mud on the outside, so they were terrified and knelt down. On the left and right sides of the statue of Pengzu are a male and a female peach blossom and Zhou Wu Station. There are four statues of Wen, Liu, Ma and Zhao on the East and West gables of the hall, and there are statues of Guanyin in the East and West halls.
Later, due to coal mining, it was difficult for the old temple site to survive. In 1993, the government decided to rebuild Pengzu Temple 500 meters southeast of the original site. The temple is ten meters high with three openings. It is built in the style of Han Dynasty. It imitates the original iron statue and models the statue of Pengzu. The temple yard is 300 square meters and costs hundreds of thousands of yuan.
