There is another name of Yungang ancient temple, which is called "Yungang social school". When it comes to Yungang social school, we have to mention Wang Debang, a historical celebrity in Puxin village. Born in 1837, Wang Debang was a famous general of Hunan army, who followed Zuo Zongtang to reclaim Xinjiang. In the Sino French war, Wang Debang and Feng Zicai won the zhennanguan war in February 1885 and became a national hero.

It is mentioned in Dongguan county annals about Wang Debang that in 1881, Wang Debang was ordered to go to Yunnan to take office. He passed by Shipai, so he went back to his hometown to worship his ancestors, build graves, recruit a group of rural children to join his subordinates, and set up Yungang social school to teach poor children to read and read.
In 2000, shiyanran, appointed by the religious department, came to manage the ancient Yungang temple. He recalled: "the degree of dilapidation of the temple is beyond my imagination. The temple is leaking everywhere and may collapse at any time. There is no Bodhisattva, no decent Road, only a few bricks on the muddy road. Villagers raise cattle and beggars live in it. The front door of the temple is full of garbage. It took two months to get rid of it
An inscription made of red sandstone beside the ancient temple attracted the attention of the reporter. The inscription is incomplete, about 1 meter long and 0.5 meter wide, like the shape of a memorial archway. According to master Yan Ran, when the Hongsheng palace was rebuilt in 2009, the workers digging the foundation found a big stone, which was not easy to clean, so they broke it with a hammer. Master Shi Yanran finds out and immediately asks someone to recover the fragments. There is a pattern of eight immortals on the remaining steles, and the inscription in the middle is still visible. The main idea is that a person made a wish in the ancient temple, which was later proved to be effective. Therefore, the stele was engraved as a memento, and the inscription was made in the 33rd year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty.
