At that time, there was a flood. In order to make the people live and work in peace and contentment, Dayu ran all over Kyushu. In the south of Songshan Mountain, from Longmen in the west to Yu County in the East, there is a big river called Ying River. As soon as the Yinghe river overflows, the two sides become a vast ocean, and no crops can grow. In order to discharge the flood, Dayu dug mountains to control the flood in the area of calyx ridge mouth (also known as Xuangu mountain) in the northwest of Dengfeng County.

He planned to lead the flood from the south of Songshan mountain to the Luo river in the north, and then let it flow into the Yellow River. It is said that in Tang Yao's time, the flood was huge, and there was a vast ocean everywhere. I don't know how many people and animals were drowned. Tang Yao ordered Yu's father to control the flood, but he failed to control the flood for nine years. After Yushun ascended the throne, he ordered Yu, the son of Kan, to inherit his father's business, control the flood, and granted him the title of "Xia Bo Hou". Yu led his pregnant wife Tu Shanyao to Yangcheng to control the water.

According to the flow direction of water and the topography of mountains and rivers, Yu planned to dig a canal at fuyuanguan on the west side of Songshan mountain to drain the flood. However, the mountains were high and the rocks were thick. It took a long time to drill through. Xia Yu was too anxious to eat. One night, he lay on the bed and couldn't fall asleep. In the dim light, he suddenly saw a big black bear coming down from the mountain. With his mouth against the mountain, he bowed and pushed his feet. The mountain collapsed half way and the flood ran away from there. Yu was happy and woke up. It turned out to be a dream. He thought to himself, in order to control the flood, how nice it would be if he could become the black bear in his dream. So he went around looking for ways to become a black bear. Later, his spirit of eliminating harm for the people moved God, and the jade emperor used his magic to turn Xia Yu into a black bear when digging channels. After that, on the water control site, Xia Yu, who had become a black bear, went over mountains and mountains quickly, chiseled rocks and transported soil with great strength, greatly speeding up the progress of water control. However, he never told his wife Tu Shanjiao that he had become a bear.

On this day, Dayu came to the vicinity of the calyx ridge mouth and saw that the mountain here was steep and the project of digging through the calyx ridge mouth was very big. In order to open the river quickly, he became a huge black bear when he dug the mountain. In this way, Dayu, no matter crossing mountains, digging earth and transporting stones, diverting water and guiding flood, was very vigorous and powerful.

Because Dayu was busy, he left in a hurry and didn't care. He just went up the mountain. As soon as Tu Shan heard the drum, she wondered: Why did her husband eat early? Maybe she was very tired and hungry. So she quickly prepared the meal and went to Da Yu on a raft.

Who knows, when she came to the hillside, left and right, and did not see Dayu back, she climbed up the mountain. When she came to the mountain and looked down, she saw a big black bear digging stones and earth and digging the river. It stretches its head forward, bows its waist down, kicks its legs, stretches out its big arms, and pushes hard toward the rock. For a moment, she didn't know what to do, so she picked up the rice basket and ran home. Along the way, she was shy, anxious and angry. When she came near the door, she felt sad and almost fainted.
