Some time ago, I happened to see a report that at about 1:00 p.m. on May 1, a mountain forest fire broke out on Haiyang Island, the island farthest from the mainland in the Yellow Sea. Because the wind on the island had reached force 7 at that time, the fire took advantage of the wind, and the flames shot up more than 80 meters high. The fire quickly spread to the whole island forest area, endangering hundreds of mu of trees on the mountain and the safety of people's lives and property on the island. The officers and men of the first marine police detachment of Liaoning Public Security Frontier Corps, who are on duty near the island, quickly landed to fight the fire. The officers and men of the marine police fought for more than an hour and finally put out the fire.

My heart trembled when I saw this report. I can't help but think of the scene when I went to the ocean island 20 years ago.

I went to Haiyang island with the pen club organized by the municipal writers' Association. It was probably in the summer of 1986. More than a dozen of us took the train from Benxi to Dalian for a night. The next day, we boarded the boat and went to Haiyang island. Through Dachang mountain, Xiaochang mountain and Zhangzi Island, we slowly arrived at Haiyang island in the evening. Later I learned that the ship we were on was an old ship retired from the Navy. The local people called it "old ox boat". No wonder it was as slow as an ox cart.

Ocean island is the easternmost island in China, only 98 nautical miles away from Jeju Island in South Korea. It is like a curved horseshoe, half ring territory in the vast Yellow Sea. The harbor formed by it is called Taiping Bay. Although it is not big, it protects against wind and waves, so it has become a good natural harbor. Later, the poem in my long poem "the discovery of a woman" that "your big ship has finally come / I hear your anchor / it's clattering into my harbor / the seagull that landed on my shoulder" was inspired by the thought of the natural harbor of the ocean island after I came back from the ocean Island.

Ocean island has almost no flat land, except mountains. On the top of the mountain, you can see the endless ocean. That is the real sea, the vast and ethereal sea, the pure and wild sea. As long as you look around, you will see the international giant ship that has become the size of a toy sailing slowly on the high seas. And if you look closely, it is the seagull or waterbird that often passes you by.

After going down the mountain and walking on the beach of the ocean island without any human pollution, you can actually pick up the living sea cucumber. When you pick it up, it's still soft. It's a pity that it will melt little by little. Later, the local fishermen said that after picking up the fresh and soft sea cucumber, they threw it hard on the ground and it became hard and strong. But who can throw it hard? We still put the sea cucumber back into the sea.

On the ocean island, an "island link" tells us that the three treasures on the ocean island are sea cucumber, abalone and donkey. We are curious. Needless to say, the first two are good things. But what's the matter with "donkey as watch"? "Daoshangtong" said that every time the donkey on the island called, it was on the hour, so the local people took the donkey as a tool to tell the time. We asked, how can those donkeys tell the time? The "island link" said that after research and investigation, it may be that the Garrison has to stand guard for many years on the island. Every time the garrison changes guard, it is on the hour. In the middle of the night, it may alarm the donkey. As soon as the donkey is frightened, it will bark for a long time. In the long run, the donkey will develop the habit of barking every hour. As time goes by, the local people will regard the donkey barking as the whole As a tool for timing, there is a saying that "donkeys are watches.".

On the ocean island, I'm not afraid of anything else. I'm afraid of the wind. When the wind comes, the waves will ravage the coast. In that kind of weather, we have to stay indoors, listen to the waves and enjoy leisure in our dreams. When the wind stops and the waves recede, we rush to the beach. At this time, the pebbles on the beach are the cleanest and freshest after being washed and honed by the waves. If you just grab one, it's just like a pearl or a gem. It's hard to put it down.

What makes people feel most on the island is that the tombs lying on the hillside, facing the sea breeze, are a bit gloomy and terrible. "Dao Shang Tong" said, "don't be afraid. There is no one in those graves. They are all empty graves. When we asked why, the "island link" said that it was the fishermen on the island who went fishing and didn't come back as soon as they went. The people on the island set up an empty grave for him and buried some clothes and headgear that he used to wear, even if it was the sleeping place of his soul. After hearing this, we all respect those empty graves. We feel that they are not only the destination of the dead, but also the sustenance of their relatives. Between life and death, we can use such a simple way to achieve the transcendence of form and content, the communication between spirit and soul, and free the bereaved from the reality and pain.

There is a kind of plant growing on the ocean island. Its leaves are very open. On one side, there are long white trumpet flowers, and on the other side, there are green fruits. The flowers are light fragrant, and the fruits are like cherry millet. We picked a few flowers in the accompanying pages, picked a few of its fruit as a memorial. Later, I learned from "daoshangtong" that this plant is a kind of Chinese herbal medicine and has a nice and romantic name - Datura. Since then, I have been to many places because of my career. I have seen Datura in many places. It grows and distributes widely, and has been found in many parts of the country. But no matter where I see Datura, it reminds me of the beautiful place of ocean island.

The trip to ocean island, which I haven't been to for 20 years, is just like that old book, which is shelved on the shelf of life. If I didn't see the report about ocean island by chance, I still don't know how many years I will dust this memory.

It's said that the ocean island has been developed into a scenic tourist destination. There are many scenic spots, such as "fishing port scenery", "yingzuishi", "Pearl Park", "crying niangding" and "Qinglongshan National Forest Park". But I don't know if I will find fresh sea cucumbers and pearly pebbles on the sea, hear the sound of donkeys, and still look into the distance The empty grave of the sea, or picking the beautiful "Datura" fruit.

Maybe it's really only in my dream that I can return to the ocean island 20 years ago.
