Yangqiao Lane
Yangqiao road is located in Fuzhou City. Before it was expanded into a road, it was called Yangqiao lane. It is the northernmost lane of the seven lanes. Because the lane connects with Yangqiao, it is commonly known as Yangqiao lane, and its real name is Dengjun square. At the intersection of Yangqiao lane and nanhou street is Lin Juemin's former residence, which is now the memorial hall of 1911 Revolution in Fuzhou. Bing Xin once lived in this place when she was a child. In her article my hometown, she has a vivid description of her former residence.
essential information
The ancient city of Fuzhou faces south. In history, being able to be a capital for five times has its own grand atmosphere. And the expansion of the city is advancing with the times, it is impossible to reach the goal in one step. The evidence of Fuzhou's "growing up" lies in the continuous expansion of the moat, and the fact that the South Gate moved forward several times, forcing Jiangzhu.
Once the "nanmendou" was at the East Street. In the past, the right thoroughfare stretching to the West has become increasingly narrow due to the flocking of houses, and the original "Dengjun square" has been reduced to "Yangqiao lane". The word "Dengjun" reveals people's endless yearning and pursuit for fame. But maybe the name of "dengjunfang" is a bit awkward. People like to call it Yangqiao Lane because it passes through a small bridge to the West called Yangqiao. It's just like the local people say "haircut" as "shaved head" and "happy" as "through the feet". There's a taste of great skill in it.
In history, the gate of Yangqiao lane was once opened in the South back street. As the name suggests, this lane is really tied to the "bridge". Yangqiao Road south of the "double throw bridge", a small scale, many legends. First, the bridge is located in the inland channel, where the East and West rivers "tide" together, and the inland wonders of "thousands of miles of tide to breathe" are most vividly felt here. The other is a pair of banyan trees growing opposite each other on both sides of the double throw bridge. In the air, the branches and leaves of the banyan trees stand together and embrace each other. Therefore, there is a sad story of young men and women dying for love. It has been handed down for a long time, so that later generations can't tell whether there is love before trees, trees before bridges, or vice versa. Recently, it has been heard that some overseas writers have compared it with "Romeo and Juliet", which adds a bit of sadness.
Another "bridge" connected with Yangqiao Lane seems invisible, but it is absolutely true; it is also a masterpiece, but it is extremely heroic. Yangqiao lane is the northernmost Lane among the seven lanes. Yangqiao lane was named dengjunfang in ancient times. It was renamed because the west can pass through Yangqiao. Lin's mansion at the intersection of Yangqiao road and nanhou street is the former residence of martyr Lin Juemin, which was later sold to Xie luan'en, the grandfather of the writer Bing Xin. Bing Xin lived here when she was a child. In my hometown, there is also a vivid description of her former residence. After the tunnel was expanded into a road, a considerable part of the former residence of martyr Lin Juemin and female writer Bing Xin was preserved.
Story of Yangqiao Lane
The origin of names
It is said that Yangqiao Lane used to be called youtongqu. During the reign of Xuanhe in Song Dynasty, it was renamed chunfenglou, also known as fengyingfang. Maybe the taste of romance is too vulgar. In order to express the meaning of striving for success and fame, we took the elegant name of dengjunfang. Neighbors, because there is a river in the west, with willows on the bank and Hechao bridge and shuangpao bridge on the river, are directly called Yangqiao lane. In the 1960s, when the road was expanded here, it was renamed Yangqiao Road, which became the main line of the city crossing the East and the West. It is said that when building Yangqiao Road, the "double throwing bridge" was to be demolished. In order to protect this historic site, the original design was revised, resulting in an extra cost of 3 million yuan.
Double throwing Bridge
There is a double throw bridge in the south of Yangqiao Road, which is famous in Fuzhou local history and culture. Fuzhou's inland rivers meander through the city. Coincidentally, the neihe River from the East and West converges under the shuangpao bridge. According to folklore, there was a young man and woman who fell in love in ancient times, but they couldn't get what they wanted, so they both threw themselves into the river and died. In memory of them, it is called "double throwing bridge". In the second year of Qianlong's reign, the bridge was rebuilt, and the stone carvings on the bridge are still there.
In the Qing Dynasty, most of the houses in the west of Yangqiao lane were front shops and back houses, which were relatively prosperous commercial areas. During the reign of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, a young Li family in Yangqiao Lane went to Taiwan to learn leather making technology. When he came home, he opened a "wanfulai" trunk shop. At that time, the most famous "mazhangpu" trunk shop in Fuzhou was in Yangqiao lane. There is also the old house of Shen Shaoan, the inventor of bodiless lacquerware.
the Republic of China era
During the period of the Republic of China, it was called "God of wealth Street" because many banks, such as the Bank of Fujian Province, operated here, just like Wall Street in the United States. Lin Erkang, Lin Erjia and other important figures of Taiwan's famous banqiaolin consortium once lived here. Yan Shuxia, the third son of Yan Fu, who lives in langgong Lane next door, married Lin Mulan of Lin Benyuan's family in Banqiao forest.
Famous dish "Buddha jumps over the wall"
It is said that in the late Qing Dynasty, the landlady of the official bank in yangqiaoxiang was a native of Zhejiang Province. She had a lot of research on cooking skills. One day, the boss of the official bank hosted a banquet for Zhou Lian, the Chief Secretary of the government. The boss's mother cooked by herself. She used more than 20 kinds of raw materials, such as chicken, duck, pork tripe, pig feet, mutton and dried cuttlefish, and put them into the Shaoxing wine jar. The jar was sealed tightly, and the dishes were simmered with gentle fire. After Zhou Lian tasted them, she was full of praise, and the famous dish "fo Tiao Qiang" was born.
