Sinian Museum
The Sinian museum is the first private art museum in Lujiazui area of Shanghai, which was officially opened to the public in October 2013. The museum has six floors, covering an area of 6316 square meters. The Sinian museum is the first natural history museum in China.
Focusing on both history and art, the Sinian Museum integrates collection, research, exhibition, operation and dissemination. Adhering to the concept of protecting, inheriting and contributing to Chinese culture, it advocates and promotes the study of ancient artifacts with materials, workmanship, shape and pattern as the core. It also cooperates with the College of Kaogu culture and Museum of Peking University to strive for continuous improvement on the platform of cooperation between the museum and the University.
The museum's collection is mainly composed of Buddhist statues, jade, pottery and blue and white porcelain. It is divided into two parts: permanent exhibition and special exhibition. The research center of paleontology is specially set up to fully show the achievements of ancient Chinese culture and art. At the same time, the museum analyzes the collection from the perspective of paleontology, and reveals the rich cultural connotation of historical relics to the audience from multiple perspectives.
The Sinian Museum adheres to the cultural ambition of giving back to the society and strives to build a cultural treasure box of Chinese civilization on the Bank of Huangpu.
Development history
In 1995, the foundation was established. In the same year, he was invited to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
In 1996, he was invited by the Taichung Museum of natural sciences and the Los Angeles Museum of natural history to jointly hold "Tianshi: Ancient Chinese jade exhibition".
In 1997, he was invited to the special exhibition of sculpture collection by Taipei Palace Museum.
In 1999, he was invited to the special exhibition of the sequel of qunyubei collection by the Taipei Palace Museum. In the same year, he donated 18 statues of Arhats and children in Zishou temple, Lingshi County, Shanxi Province.
In 2000, the Sinian culture and Education Foundation cooperated with FoGuangShan in Kaohsiung to hold the 2000 year special exhibition of Buddhism spreading to the East.
In 2003, the Sinian culture and Education Foundation cooperated with Peking University to establish the Sinian ancient civilization research center.
In 2004, it donated back 36 components of yewang Jiaozhi pottery to the Xuejia Tzu Chi palace in Tainan County, Taiwan.
In 2005, the preparatory work of Shanghai Sinian museum was started; in the same year, 154 pieces of Buddhist underground palace cultural relics were donated to the FoGuangShan Buddha Memorial in Kaohsiung.
In 2006, he was invited to "Buddhist Sculpture Exhibition" of Taipei Museum of history. In 2007, he was invited to the special exhibition of Buddhist sculpture in Seoul University Museum, South Korea.
In 2009, he was invited to the special exhibition of jade making and royal power by xiduyuan Archaeological Museum in Miyazaki, Japan; in the same year, he donated three Buddhist statues to Donghe temple in Taipei.
With the theme of "Chinese jade culture, new style of the city" as the theme, the Sinian enterprise pavilion will set up an independent exhibition hall in 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
In 2011, he donated 10 pieces of Jiaozhi pottery to Taiwan Traditional Art Center during the reign of Qing Dynasty.
In 2012, "Bulgari - 125 years of Italian classic design art exhibition" was held.

The collection of the Sinian Museum mainly consists of ancient Chinese artifacts, covering thousands of Buddhist statues, jades, ceramics, stone carvings and other categories, as well as relevant research references, rubbings, unearthed photos and other precious materials. At the same time, the library on the fifth floor of the Sinian Museum has a rich collection of professional books, including a large number of rare English and Japanese books, which provide reading services for professionals by appointment.
Function value
In the aspect of research specialty, we advocate the research of paleontology with the core of "material, work, shape and pattern", invite professionals to form a research team, and cooperate with the school of archaeology, culture and Museum of Peking University to set up the research center of Sinian ancient civilization. In addition, the latest research achievements of the Sinian museum are published in the form of papers and publications, and some special topics are presented in the special exhibition room in the form of exhibitions.
