Jianzhen Library:
In October 2003, the 1250 anniversary of Jianzhen's eastward visit to Japan was held at Daming Temple in Yangzhou. At the scene, a tall, kind and detached elder became the center of the whole audience's admiration like Mingyue. He was master Xingyun, a pioneer of "human Buddhism" and a Yangzhou monk who established religion in Taiwan and spread it all over the five continents. That event can be said to be a historic opportunity. Master Jianzhen and master Xingyun, two monks from Yangzhou, are crossing the 1250 year old historical tunnel, echoing from afar and laughing together. The bond between the two masters is their common ideal and virtue of promoting Buddhism and spreading culture. During the 1250 anniversary of Jianzhen's eastward journey to Japan, he learned that Daming Temple in Yangzhou was going to build a Buddhist Academy. Facing the sages who were also determined to spread Buddhism and culture thousands of years ago, master Xingyun was determined to donate money to build a library in Yangzhou, so as to continue and promote master Jianzhen's cause of promoting Buddhism and prospering science, technology and culture. He named this library: jianzhentu Library.
On June 5, 2005, the Jianzhen library, which was donated more than 50 million yuan by Taiwan's FoGuangShan culture and education foundation, broke the ground under the care of the State Bureau of religion and the Bureau of religion of Jiangsu Province and the direct leadership of Yangzhou municipal Party committee and government.
Foguang mountain is responsible for the implementation and preparation of the whole project of the library. There are three young monks in charge of the project. One is a golden haired and blue eyed master from New Zealand, Huifeng, who is in charge of the project construction. The other is a handsome looking monk from Taiwan, Huiyi, who is in charge of the finance of the project first and then the implementation of the whole project. Later, master Huifeng came to Hong Kong to study, and another master from Australia, Huiju, took over Come here. These three monks from afar, they get up at the third shift every day, sleep in the middle of the night, and work hard for Jianzhen Library in Yangzhou. After two years of hard work, Jianzhen library, the largest Tang Dynasty courtyard building in Yangzhou, was finally built in the north of Daming Temple in Zhongfeng, Shugang
The library imitates the Tang style and is located in the Daming Temple, covering an area of 100 mu, with a construction area of more than 16000 square meters. The main body of the library is the main hall of sipoding, surrounded by the wing rooms. It adopts the traditional Chinese courtyard structure. Jianzhen library and Daming Temple Sutra collection building are on the same central axis, facing Pingshan hall, Qiling pagoda and Buddhist Academy, and connecting with each other. It has become one of the distinctive buildings in the Buddhist circle in China
Like Jianzhen college, it continues the design concept of Jianzhen Memorial given by Liang Sicheng. It is a Tang style building with the main hall as the axis symmetrical distribution. Here, the corridor is tortuous, the buildings are uneven, the courtyard is open, and the eaves are relaxed. The main body of the library is the main hall on the top of the four slopes, and the wing rooms connecting the cloisters surround it. Turning counter clockwise along the East chamber, there are art museum, Dishui square, dormitory building, teaching room, office area, etc., with 7 multimedia classrooms and 500 square meters exhibition room. The main building has three floors. The ground floor is a semi underground garden, mainly including a library, a distance learning center and a printing center. On the second floor, there is a book and magazine lending office. The reading room can accommodate 200 readers, with 44 seats and 4 small discussion rooms. The third floor is the lecture hall of Yangzhou forum, with 905 seats. It is a special building with complete air conditioning, sound and light facilities,
It transcends the distance between ancient culture and modern technology, resolves the contradiction between natural ecology and artificial sculpture, coordinates the differences between artistic effect and practical function, and realizes the integration of religious principles and human feelings, Although this is a place with classical form and ancient Buddhist atmosphere, the concept of "new" such as new materials, new energy and new technology can be felt everywhere. There are multimedia, acousto-optic equipment, international leading simultaneous translation system, especially the ground source heat pump air conditioning system. The utilization of natural resources has first injected touching humanistic connotation into this religious palace.
It is a treasure house of Buddhist culture and popular culture. The library's book collection focuses on both paper collection and digital collection. It has a collection of 100000 books in the first phase, featuring the teaching history, teaching theory, biography and ritual series of Chinese Buddhism. At the same time, it provides academic works such as literature and art, linguistics and key social science journals, and has more than 30000 books. After all the books are in place, Jianzhen library will become the largest Buddhist Library in China.
It has a cultural forum of the highest level in China. As the largest cultural propaganda place in Yangzhou and the top one in China, "Yangzhou forum" is located in the lecture hall on the third floor of the main building of Jianzhen library. It is an open lecture hall for the whole society. Most of its contents are closely related to traditional Chinese culture and Yangzhou culture. Most of the speakers are invited directly by Xingyun University, and are well-known speakers in Chinese cultural circles. Yangzhou forum is held twice a month on Saturday afternoon
On May 18, 2007, Jianzhen library was completed. Master Xingyun came to Yangzhou to cut ribbon and take part in tree planting activities.
On November 26, 2010, a statue of Jianzhen from Japan was worshipped here
