Wuai Market is located along Huosheng road and fengfengtan street, Shenhe District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. It is one of the five major markets in China. It is the largest circulation type light industrial products trading center in Northeast Asia economic circle and Bohai economic circle. It is also one of the most famous wholesale markets in China.

Market formation

Wuai Market was founded in June 1983, the original market was located in Shenyang Shenhe District Wuai street named. From 1983 to 1989, after six years of careful cultivation, the market has been continuously developed and expanded. It has developed from a market with only more than 20 households to a super large wholesale market with more than 20000 households, more than 30000 varieties of commodities, more than 60000 employees, an annual turnover of 21.5 billion yuan and an annual tax of 200 million yuan.

In October 1989, according to the requirements of urban reconstruction planning, Wuai Market began to build a new market at its current site (No. 65, fengfengtan street, Shenhe District, Shenyang City, at the intersection of fengfengtan street and Huosheng Road), thus ending the history of Wuai Market as a road market.

1990-1994

On October 1, 1990, the first phase of the 21000 square meter project of Wuai Market was completed, with 3725 operating stalls. On October 15, a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony was held. Li Tao, Secretary of the municipal Party committee, cut the ribbon for the market and personally put forward the four words of "five love market". At that time, there were three categories of goods in the market: clothing, Xiaobai and knitting, and the products were of good quality and low price, which ushered in a large number of cooperative shoppers. In 1990, the turnover of commodities reached 406.23 million yuan. The tax revenue was 11.34 million yuan, the turnover of commodities in 1991 was 110 million yuan, and the tax revenue was 18 million yuan.

At the end of 1991, the second phase of the expansion project was completed, covering an area of 12000 square meters. It opened in January 1992, and the number of fixed stalls in Wuai Market increased to 5812. The development of Wuai Market has been concerned by the provincial and municipal leaders. On January 1, 1992, governor Yue Qifeng inspected the Wuai Market under the leadership of Zhang Guoguang, Secretary of the municipal Party committee, Zhang Rongmao, vice mayor, etc., affirmed the construction of the market, and wrote the inscription "our Wuai Market".

On March 16, 1992, Wuai Market set up a foreigner trading area, with 15 stalls in the initial stage and 40 stalls later. It has attracted businessmen from Russia, Ukraine and South Korea to operate here. The market is also equipped with two Russian translators for convenience. Every week, former Soviet merchants fly from Irkusk to Shenyang, where they bring things for sale or as goods. They sell things and then use RMB to buy Chinese goods in Wuai Market and bring them back home. Hong Kong Ta Kung Pao and other newspapers published the news of the establishment of the foreign personal trading zone. Xinhua news agency also sent a message.

In August 1992, the third phase of the expansion project was completed. The building area is 16000 square meters. With the completion of the third phase project, the types of commodities operated by Wuai have changed, from the original three categories to six categories of small food, cloth and bedding in the hall.

In August 1992, Liaoning Daily overseas special page No. 13832 introduced the prosperity of Wuai Market with full page articles such as "invite Liaoning Wuai to come", "sincerely make friends all over the world, hand in hand with prosperity" and "economic ties with friends of businessmen from all over the world".

On September 19, 1992, governor Yue Qifeng, accompanied by Jin Mingshi, vice mayor of Shenyang City, inspected Wuai Market again. At the same time, he was interviewed by CCTV reporters. Governor Yue spoke highly of the market as big as it is, living without chaos. He also told the reporters on the spot that "we should set up all kinds of markets, such as old things and flea markets, for the convenience of the masses.".

No pains, no gains. In November 1992, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce held the third national civilized market commendation meeting in Wuhan, and awarded Wuai Market as "national civilized market". Wuai Market has been famous all over the country.

After ten years of development, Wuai Market has become the largest small commodity wholesale market in northern China, which has attracted the attention of leaders at all levels and all aspects of society.

On June 6, 1993, the western market area built and developed by Liaozhong Weihua Group Co., Ltd. opened, with 364 stalls, mainly engaged in clothing and Xiaobai.

On May 16, 1993, reporters and editors of CCTV, CNR, people's daily, economic daily and workers' daily went to the market for a joint interview.

On May 22, 1993, vice governor Zhang Rongmao inspected Wuai Market.

On July 15, 1993, Deng Nan, vice chairman of the China Association for science and technology, accompanied by Wen Shizhen, vice governor of the province, visited Wuai Market.

On August 6, 1993, the 10th anniversary of the opening of the market was held. Zhang Rongmao, vice governor of Liaoning Province, and Zhang Guoguang, member of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party committee and Secretary of the municipal Party committee, attended the ceremony. In the evening, ten thousand people attended the "light of five loves" song and dance party at the provincial stadium. Liaoning TV station broadcast the grand occasion of the party.

From August 7 to 10, 1993, the second national industrial wholesale market liaison meeting was held in Wuai Market. 38 member units from all over the country attended the meeting. Ning Wanglu, deputy director of the marketing department of the State Administration for Industry and commerce, Zhao yuzeng, deputy director of the Provincial Administration for Industry and commerce, and municipal leaders attended the meeting. Before the meeting, more than 600 participants from hundreds of friendly units from all over the country attended the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Wuai Market. After the meeting, leaders at all levels and comrades attending the meeting spoke highly of the organization work of Wuai Market.

At the end of 1993, Wuai Market completed the transformation from "collection" to "market". The market covers an area of 100000 square meters, with 15327 stalls, 16000 households and 40000 employees. In the same year, remarkable achievements were made in family planning work in the market, which was awarded advanced unit of family planning by the provincial government.

On April 9, 1994, Zhang Guoguang, deputy secretary of the provincial Party committee and Secretary of the municipal Party committee, met with foreign businessmen who came to Shenyang to discuss joint venture and cooperation. He discussed with the Shenhe District government the specific planning and design scheme for the construction of a 500000 square meter commercial building in Wuai market. After the signing of the agreement, Shenhe District quickly organized human and material resources and relocated two middle schools, namely Manchu middle school and traffic vocational high school, adjacent to the east of the market. On September 16, 1994, a grand foundation laying ceremony was held in Wuai clothing city.

1995-1999

On March 31, 1995, the five love market set up a militia. Major General Wang Xing, deputy commander of Liaoning military region, presented the flag to the people's corps. Ding Shifa, deputy secretary of Shenyang municipal Party committee, Zhang Yuzhuo, Secretary of Shenhe District Party committee, and Wang Qiwen, district head, attended the founding meeting. The militia group is composed of industrial and commercial cadres and excellent individual entrepreneurs. Wang Zhenhua is the head of the militia and Bi Zhongwen is the political commissar.

The development of the market has attracted different levels of domestic and foreign leaders and economic workers to Wuai Market for investigation and research. On August 5, 1995, Li Changchun, Secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee, led the relevant leaders at all levels of Henan Province to Wuai Market for investigation, and listened to the market leader's introduction on the construction and development of the market.
