Yanhe bridge at the foot of Baota Mountain is a stone arch bridge which inherits and develops the traditional techniques of open shoulder arch bridge in ancient China. It has a strong national style. The total length of the bridge is 123 meters, and the clear span of three holes is 30 meters each. The main arch adopts the form of vertical wall open spandrel arch, that is, there are six small arches on each large span, with light body and strong bearing capacity. In the process of building the bridge, Yan'an people carried forward the glorious tradition of hard struggle. According to the characteristics of Yanhe River, which does not need navigation, and the riverbed is sandy soil, the construction method of "Tu Niu arched tire" was adopted, that is, soil was piled up on the riverbed to form an arch, which was used as the tire mold for building the arch ring, which greatly reduced the project cost.
After the completion of the Yanhe bridge, its architectural art has been highly praised by all aspects. Wang Zhanyi, a senior bridge culture research expert, wrote an article praising: "the Yanhe bridge is properly selected, reasonably arranged, beautiful in shape and exquisite in workmanship. It is in harmony with the nearby green mountains, green waters and pagoda ancient city." Pagoda mountain and Yanhe bridge are harmonious and bright. They have become the symbol of the revolutionary holy land of Yan'an, the symbol of the city, and the important scenic spots for photography and painting. Since then, a number of modern bridges have been built on the Yan River in Yan'an, with smooth railway and highway access, providing convenient conditions for the people's production, life and foreign tourists.
Now, stones have been built on the riverbed of the Yanhe River, and concrete guardrails and lamp posts have been built on the bank. On the posts are milky white circular electric lights. At night, the two banks become a bright light line. On the majestic pagoda and the grand Yanhe bridge, the lighting is gorgeous, almost brilliant and transparent, especially magnificent and charming under mutual reflection.
As the holy land of Chinese revolution, Yan'an has more than 140 revolutionary memorial sites.
Yanhe Bridge
Yan River Bridge, located in the east of Yan'an City, crosses Yan River and connects Yan'an City and Dongguan Street. The bridge was designed by Zhou Ji and opened to traffic in May 1959. It is an open spandrel stone arch bridge with three holes, each with a span of 30 meters. The bridge is 115 meters long, 13 meters high, and 7 meters wide with sidewalks on both sides. Each arch has six round arch shaped small bridge holes with a span of 2.5 meters. On the one hand, it is convenient for flood discharge, and on the other hand, it reduces the weight and pressure of the bridge itself. The lower part of the bridge is a gravity pier with a stone arch on it. Yanhe bridge is modeled after "Zhaozhou Bridge", with reasonable design, fine construction and magnificence. The quality of the project is also very solid. So far, it is still an important traffic artery in Yan'an City. After the completion of Yanhe bridge, it is integrated with Yan'an Pagoda and becomes an important symbol of Yan'an.
introduce
To talk about Yanhe bridge, we must first talk about Yan'an.
Yan'an is an ancient city built in the Sui Dynasty, surrounded by mountains and flowing by water. On the pagoda mountain stands a 44 meter high octagonal nine level brick pagoda, which is a "solemn and majestic ancient city" with mountains and water. Yan'an is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation, where the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan created the history of the Chinese nation.
The Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army successfully completed the world-famous 25000 Li Long March and finally arrived in Yan'an after many hardships and twists. It was the headquarters of the CPC Central Committee and the Eighth Route Army from 1937 to 1947. Countless excellent sons and daughters of the Chinese nation have been cultivated here. During the war of resistance against Japan, many hot-blooded youths went to Yan'an from all over the country to fight against Japan and save the nation. After the baptism of the revolution, they went to the front line of resistance against Japan. After the war of liberation began, many cadres and soldiers rushed to the battlefield of liberation.
It is such an important place, but there is no bridge on the Yanhe River, so it is very inconvenient for the two sides to travel. In the dry season, people can still wade across the river. It will be very difficult and dangerous when the water rises. At that time, even some important activities of the Party Central Committee and the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army will be affected. On October 11, 1945, out of love and admiration for the leaders, many people sang "Oriental red" and waded to Yan'an airport to welcome Chairman Mao Zedong, who came back from the negotiations in Chongqing.

Yanhe bridge claims that it can only be used for 50 years at most after it is built. Now, in the past 60 years, it has experienced a huge flood. The flood occurred in 1998, but now it still stands on the Bank of Yanhe River, which is convenient for the traffic on both sides.

Poetry
Mr. Dong Biwu has a poem to praise. In selected poems of Dong Biwu, there is a congratulatory poem written by the author on June 25, 1959: "the title sentence of Yanhe bridge".
The whole poem is as follows:
There is no sign of rising in the autumn river, and there is no obstacle for pedestrians.
A bridge is built on the East and West Bank, and the pagoda is not in front of the mountain.
This poem is full of Dong Biwu's deep love for Yan'an City and his deep concern for people's life. With smooth brushwork, profound charm and full of passion, the poem compares the scene before and after the bridge was built on the Yanhe River, praising the changes brought about by the vicissitudes of time.
Dong is one of the founders of the Communist Party of China. He is the oldest person who has participated in the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He worked in Yan'an for many years. When he learned that the Yanhe bridge was opened to traffic in Beijing, he wrote this inspiring congratulatory poem.
The first couplet of the poem: "the autumn river is full of water, and there is no sign of rising, and there is no way to stop pedestrians.". This is a description of the barrier between the two sides of the Yanhe River when there is no bridge, which brings inconvenience to people's production and life.
For many years, people have been looking forward to building a bridge over the Yanhe River, which was finally realized in 1959. For this reason, Mr. Dong highly praised: "one bridge connects the East and West banks, and there is no need to pay attention to the pagoda in front of the mountain."
