Songhu Anti Japanese War Memorial Hall
There is a memorial hall of Songhu Anti Japanese war in the park. It is a special memorial hall that comprehensively reflects the two major battles in Shanghai during the Anti Japanese War: "January 28", "August 13" Songhu Anti Japanese War and the 14 year history of Shanghai People's Anti Japanese war.
"The whale waves and the crocodile waves shake the dangerous city. It's all up to Cao to fight. Five hundred athletes died for the country, China is more than a Tian Heng. "On September 5, 1937, the Japanese aggressor army concentrated more than 30 warships to cover the army's fierce attack on Baoshan, Shanghai. More than 500 officers and men of yaoziqing camp guarding Baoshan fought bloody battles to repel several Japanese attacks, fought for two days and nights, and most of them died bravely. On September 7, more than 20 officers and soldiers of the isolated Yao camp fought with the enemy in the east gate. Yao Ziqing was wounded in many places. At last, he was shot in the abdomen and died for his country. The above poem is written by later generations to commemorate the heroic sacrifice of officers and soldiers in yaoziqing camp.
Yao Ziqing's camp stuck to Baoshan City and fought with the Japanese army for eight days and nights. After fierce street fighting, Yao Ziqing and the whole camp died for the lack of enemies. The news shocked China and foreign countries. In order to defend the territory of the motherland, Yao Ziqing and other 500 strong men did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives, which reflected the patriotism and national integrity of Chinese soldiers and greatly inspired the Anti Japanese enthusiasm of compatriots from all walks of life of the Chinese nation.
Even the ferocious Japanese were impressed by the spirit of the Chinese warriors. After entering the city, the Japanese troops collected and buried the bodies of the dead, and shot in line to salute them. Later generations wrote poems in praise of Yao Ying's heroic deeds: five hundred heroes died for the country, and China was more than one Tian Heng.
After Yao Ziqing and all the officers and soldiers died in the country, the Central Supervision Committee of the Kuomintang sent a telegram to the whole country on September 10: "in the battle of Baoshan, Yao Ziqing's whole battalion and the lonely city lived side by side. His ambition and death were strong enough to move heaven and earth and cry for ghosts and gods...".
Nanjing's Central Daily published the article "six hundred righteous men in diaobaoshan city". Yao Ziqing was called "the expression of national personality"; Shanghai's "Damei Evening News" wrote an article praising: "this time Yao Ying died in the city. His great and heroic deeds really make people feel shocked and awed. This is not only the glory of the Chinese people, but also the glory of the world's human beings. His deeds will go down in history forever!"
In memory of Yao Ziqing, Baoshan county was once renamed "Ziqing county".
The street at No. 7, chengchengli, Hankou City, where he lived, was renamed "yaoziqing road". A bronze statue of Yao Ziqing was cast in Nanjing.
On August 13, 1995, Baoshan people in Shanghai set up a monument for Yao Ziqing in Linjiang park. The monument is a 20 ton natural giant rock with "Yao Ziqing camp's Anti Japanese sacrifice place" engraved on the front, and another large stone next to it is engraved with the heroic deeds of 600 heroes of Yao Ziqing camp. On the east side of the lawn of Linjiang Park, a stone named Lingyan was erected to commemorate the Anti Japanese hero yaoziqingying. On June 1, 1992, with the approval of Shanghai municipal government, the stone was erected at the "Anti Japanese sacrifice place of yaoziqingying". The stone is 5 meters wide, 3 meters high, 1 meter thick and weighs 26 tons. It has become a memorial site for the protection of cultural relics in Shanghai.
