Guangdong Provincial Finance Department building
Guangdong Provincial Finance Department building, in the north end of Beijing road. It is a brick, wood and reinforced concrete structure building imitating European popular classical architectural style.
brief introduction
The construction project is divided into two phases. The first phase is a three-story project, which was laid in 1915 and completed in 1919. The stone plaque on the top of the building door reads "June auspicious day of the eighth year of the Republic of China of Guangdong Department of finance"; the fourth and fifth floors and dome are built in the second phase of the project.
The building is 28.57 meters high and 37.14 meters wide, with a concave plane. The first and third floors were reinforced concrete floors, and the second, fourth and fifth floors were wooden floors. The first floor is treated as a base, with a gentle spiral arch, going up the granite stairs to the second floor. The front gate runs through the eaves of the third floor with imitation roman columns, leaning columns and square columns. The semicircular roman columns surround the colonnade, and the third floor starts the arched corridor; the fourth floor starts the double columns supporting the eaves. There is a spiral ladder in the middle of the second floor. The varied thread feet of the parapet on the top of the building coordinate with the eaves on the top of the building. It is a modern building with European and American classical architectural style built in the early period.
In 1978, reinforcement and maintenance were carried out to preserve the appearance. The second, fourth and fifth floors of log floors were replaced with concrete floors. The partition walls of the former front porch and the East and West porch were removed. The windows of the external wall were replaced with aluminum alloy steel windows. The hill flowers on the top of the middle door of the external wall were removed. The external wall was plastered with water and painted with stone.
origin
The finance department building was formerly known as the Minister of Chengxuan government of Guangdong Province in the Ming and Qing Dynasties (i.e. the vassal yamen), which was the highest administrative organ dispatched by the imperial court to Guangdong Province. When it was set up in the early Ming Dynasty, the buzhengshi (commonly known as "FanTai" and "vassal") was the highest chief executive of a province. Later, the post of governor was set up above the chief envoy. In the Qing Dynasty, it was officially designated as an official subordinate to the governor, and the organization remained unchanged. There are experience department, zhaomo Institute, Liwen Institute, miscellaneous manufacturing Bureau, ordnance Bureau, Baoquan Bureau, weaving and dyeing Bureau, etc. So it's a matter of fact
We should also master the administrative affairs, financial and cashiers, water conservancy, requisition and dispatch, supervise and urge production, and announce the State decrees to the government, prefecture and county, report important administrative affairs to the governor, and report the responsibilities of registered residence, tax service, number of people and fields to the Ministry of household every 10 years. After the Republic of China, the "Department of finance of Guangdong Province" was established here.
On April 13, 1921, Sun Yat Sen held a tea party with members of Congress in the finance department building. On April 24, Dr. Sun Yat Sen welcomed the army of Fujian and Guangdong to return to Guangdong at the Department of finance. On May 5, after taking the oath of office, he reviewed the parade on the balcony of the finance department. On June 12, 1922, Sun Yat Sen held a press conference in the Department of finance to expose Chen Jiongming's plot against the northern expedition.
In 1993, Guangzhou municipal government announced it as a municipal cultural relics protection unit. In July 2002, Guangdong provincial government announced it as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.
