Life of the characters
Zhao Yiman (1905-1936), formerly known as Li Kuntai, was born in Yibin County, Sichuan Province. During the period of the May 4th movement, he accepted the progressive thought and embarked on the revolutionary road. He joined the Chinese Socialist Youth League in 1923 and the Communist Party of China in the summer of 1926. In November of the same year, he studied in Wuhan Central Military and political school. In September 1927, he went to study at Sun Yat sen University in Moscow, the Soviet Union. He returned to China the next year and secretly carried out party work in Yichang, Nanchang and Shanghai. After the September 18th Incident, he was sent to Northeast China to launch the Anti Japanese struggle. He successively served as secretary of Manchuria Federation of trade unions, organization minister, special commissioner of Central County Committee of Zhuhe County, Binjiang Province, CPC, Secretary of Tiebei district Party committee, political commissar of the second regiment of the three armed forces of the Anti Japanese Federation, etc. He led workers to strike, organized and led young peasants' anti Japanese guerrillas and anti Japanese coalition to fight against the enemy. In November 1935, Zhao Yiman was captured after his left thigh was injured in the battle with the Japanese invading army. The enemy took Zhao Yiman as an important figure of the Anti Japanese Federation and put him in the detention center of Harbin puppet police department (now the basement of northeast Martyrs Memorial Hall). He tortured Zhao Yiman with gasoline, whip, iron, iron bar and other kinds of torture. Zhao Yiman remained unyielding and unswerving. At this time, her wound festered and purulent, and her life was in danger. The enemy sent Zhao Yiman to the municipal hospital for surveillance and treatment on December 13, 1935 in order to get information from her about our party's underground organization and the Anti Japanese United forces. Under the careful treatment of patriotic Doctor Zhang Baiyan, Zhao Yiman's injury gradually improved. The enemy took her away for interrogation many times, and when she came back, she was black and blue and dying. Zhao Yiman's lofty quality of "die rather than surrender" has deeply educated all medical staff. One of them is 17-year-old nurse Han Yongyi, who is strong willed and compassionate. After learning about her life experience and mood, Zhao Yiman publicized and educated her, which made her gradually germinate patriotism. Dong Xianxun, the policeman guarding Zhao Yiman, is an honest and upright man with conscience and national feelings. Zhao Yiman took the initiative to talk with him and expressed his closeness. He soon mastered his experience and thought, and stepped up his education to stimulate his patriotism. He told him about the lamentable struggle life of the Northeast Anti Japanese Federation, and finally won him over. Han Yongyi and Dong Xianxun respect Zhao Yiman very much and are determined to help her escape from the enemy. After careful research and preparation, on the night of June 28, 1936, Han Yongyi and Dong Xianxun carried Zhao Yiman out of the back door of the hospital, got into a hired car, drove to the vicinity of the Confucian temple, put on the sedan chair waiting there in advance, and came to Dong Yuance's uncle's house in the Jin family shack in Acheng the next morning. With the help of Dong Yuance, he got into the carriage again that night and rushed to the Anti Japanese guerrilla area. Unfortunately, Zhao Yiman was caught up by the enemy, and fell into the hands of the enemy. On August 2, 1936, Zhao Yiman died bravely outside the xiaobeimen gate in Zhuhe county. On the train to Zhuhe County, Zhao Yiman left a passionate letter to his beloved son: "Ning'er, it's a pity that your mother didn't do her duty to educate you. Because of her resolute struggle against Manchuria and Japan, my mother is on the eve of sacrifice today. Mother and you will never see each other again. I hope you, Ning'er, will grow up quickly and comfort your underground mother. My dearest child, my mother will educate you with practical actions instead of a thousand words. After you grow up, I hope you don't forget that your mother died for the country! On August 2, 1936, your mother Zhao Yiman was in the car. The former site was the sixth ward of Harbin Municipal Hospital, which was a brick concrete structure bungalow with basement, covering an area of 280 square meters. In 1982, it was expanded into a two-story building. On the first floor, there is a mail room with four rooms on both sides. Martyr Zhao Yiman was monitored and treated in the third room on the left side of the first floor. The second floor is the preparation room of the inpatient department of the first hospital of Medical University. In 2003, under the condition of keeping the original structure unchanged, the site was repaired. The mail room and corridor on the first floor were opened as a memorial place for martyr Zhao Yiman. The walls were covered with the life stories and photos of martyr Zhao Yiman. The floor and the wall skirt are paved with natural marble, and the ceiling is a luxury ceiling with rows of barrel lamps. Zhao Yiman's reputation and her national integrity will always live in the hearts of the people. To commemorate this anti Japanese hero forever, the Harbin Municipal People's government established the former site of Zhao Yiman's recovery as a municipal cultural relics protection unit in Harbin. The site has become a historical witness of martyr Zhao Yiman's struggle against the enemy. It is also an important place to remember martyr Zhao Yiman and educate young people about patriotism and revolutionary tradition. It has high historical and cultural value.
