background
The Guangzhou Uprising in December 1927 was directly guided, assisted and participated by the Soviet Union. Two days before the uprising, everything was OK. The situation changed dramatically on the 12th night, and the reactionary government forces carried out a tough crackdown on the uprising. On the evening of the 13th, we were having dinner at the consulate. At about 8 o'clock, a group of armed soldiers rushed into the former Soviet consulate in Guangzhou, tied up all the staff of the consulate, and then were pulled to the city for "cruise". On December 14, five Soviet personnel of the former Soviet consulate in Guangzhou, including Deputy Consul hassis, Secretary ukorov, clerical Ivanov, translator Popov and translator Makarov, were forced on charges related to the uprising, arrested and shot in public. Seven Chinese staff members of the consulate were also shot dead. During the brutal suppression of the Guangzhou Uprising, the Kuomintang government in Nanjing announced that it would break up diplomatic relations with the former Soviet Union, and Consul pokhvalinsky and other personnel were expelled from China.
