Salvation Hall

Salvation hall, formerly known as Datong Lane Evangelical Church, is located beside Hanshui bridge in Hanzheng Street, Hankou. It was founded in the 1870s.

The building was completed in May 1930, covering an area of 487.1 square meters and a building area of 775.15 square meters. The plane of the church is in the shape of a cross, with Choir seats on both sides. The gate of the hall, the roof adopts the form of Chinese national architecture, covered with glazed tiles. A 2-meter-diameter thorn crown cross made of stained glass at the height of the back wall. Before 1958, it was the Central Church of Hubei parish of Methodist Church, and after 1958, it was the United Church. After repair in the 1980s, worship officially resumed in November 1985. There are more than 2000 registered believers in the church, and more than half of them often attend church activities. Due to historical reasons, the hall was used by the Fourth Municipal Hospital. After the implementation of the religious real estate policy, after more than 10 years of coordination, it has been fully recovered and renovated. It has also registered with the civil affairs department to establish the salvation hall nursing home for the elderly, accepting nearly 40 elderly people around the community. There is also a medical room in the hall, which adheres to the principle of voluntary service for believers during the gathering time for many years. In order to beautify the environment and create a comfortable gathering place for believers, the hall demolished a number of front rooms and opened up a green space at the same time. Wan Fulin, Guan Zhiqing, Yue Juemin, Fang Zhongdi and Ruan Buyun have served as the pastors of the church, while Liu Gang is the current one.
