Lin Yutang's former residence was designed by famous architect Wang Dahong. It combines Chinese quadrangle with western aesthetic architecture, with blue tiles, white walls, arched corridors. Lin Yutang once described the courtyard as "a garden in the house, a house in the garden, a courtyard in the house, a tree in the courtyard, a sky in the tree, and a moon in the sky. It's not so happy.". The balcony is the place he used to visit in his life. After dinner, he likes to sit on the cane chair beside the table with a pipe in his mouth and enjoy the sunset sunken in Guanyin Mountain. You can also come here to experience such leisure.

Villa for the British style, arcade, front for two rooms with a hall, for the top of the two slopes. In the middle of the back is a small flower bed, and on both sides are two-story buildings, connecting the main room in front, and there is a fish pond in the back garden. The lines and feet of the villa are overlapped, while the railings on the second floor are very simple. The underground damp proof layer is not low, which ensures that the hall above is dry and comfortable. In front of the arch of the middle hall on the first floor is a long stone step surrounded by ancient banyan, longan and Magnolia, which makes the small garden full of shade, fresh and cool, with a warm atmosphere.
Liao's villa is very famous on Gulangyu Island. After many days of glory, because many of his children went abroad to start a business, the villa gradually fell into disrepute. In the 1970s, the front of the villa was demolished to one floor. No. 44 was connected with the original overpass No. 48, and the overpass was demolished to become what it is now. Nowadays, the villa is dilapidated because it has not been repaired for a long time. However, the descendants of the Liao family, who live in it, have deep feelings for the ancestral house and are unwilling to move away to live in a new modern house. Instead, they block the cloister into a kitchen to make do with the living and enjoy themselves. The underground tidal barrier is also full of people. On August 9, 1919, Lin Yutang and Liao Cuifeng held a wedding ceremony. The bride's room was located in the wing room on the right side of the front hall of Liao's villa. Three days after his marriage, Lin Yutang left Liao's house with 1000 ocean,. Lin Yutang wrote more than 60 books and thousands of articles, most of which were written in English. He settled in Taiwan in 1966 and died in Hong Kong on March 26, 1976, at the age of 81. Now Liao Cuifeng's nephew, Professor Liao Yongming, lives in this room.
