origin
The building was founded in 1913 and completed in 1914 during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. It was funded by Chen Chaojun.
Chen Chaojun owns Yongyu tea shop, which is a famous tea merchant in Dadaocheng. In order to create this villa, he specially commissioned the design drawing drawn by Dutch East India Company to be designed and built by a British architect. Apart from yuanshanbiezhuang, the building was not built with English style gardens and pavilions before its establishment, so it has a very wide area. In addition to Chen Chaojun's own holiday, this Riverside Resort is also used to entertain business guests. Hu Hanmin, a famous Chinese, and Sun Yat Sen once visited this villa.
In 1932, Chen Chaojun died, and his family declined. As for the Zhuangyuan, it was used as a prison by the governor's office of Taiwan.
postwar
In the 1950s after World War II, the building, together with thousands of Ping gardens, was allocated by the Taiwan authorities to Huang Guoshu, vice president of the "Legislative Yuan".
Huang Guoshu (1907-1987, his real name is Ye Yansheng), a Hakka from Hsinchu, Taiwan Province, studied in Japan and Germany in his early years. He was given a sabre by the emperor of Japan and Hitler. During the Sino Japanese War, he served as a general of the national revolutionary army. During the World War II, he and general Zou Hong were two major Taiwanese generals in the Chinese army. After the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, he became the vice president of the Legislative Yuan in Taiwan. Later, after February 28, 1961, he changed from "vice president" to "President".
In April 1970, Huang Guoshu was implicated in the fraud case of Guoguang life insurance company. He was ordered by Jiang Jingguo to resign from the "legislative president" and lost his property. The yuanshanbiezhuang owned by Huang Guoshu was transferred to the US military advisory group and shared with the "US embassy" in Taiwan. The British style back garden and pavilions outside biezhuang have been demolished and become a part of Yuanshan children's Park. Recreational facilities and a simple riding range have been set up.
Reengineering
In 1979, the Taipei Museum of art, located next to Yuanshan biezhuang, was established. Apart from the original garden space of Yuanshan biezhuang, which has become part of the building and public space of the museum, the museum also has its own Yuanshan biezhuang.
In 1990, after a small renovation, the village became a "artists' Friendship Center". In 1998, the center was relocated, and Yuanshan biezhuang was designated as a historic site by Taipei city. In 2003, sponsored by Chen guoci, a lawyer, the "Taipei Story Museum" was established with an annual donation of 7 million yuan. It has become a mini museum to promote Taiwan's life culture and the concept of reusing historical sites.

In 1979, the municipal government purchased it and designated it as a third-class historic site in the city, which was called "Yuanshan biezhuang". The museum was closed and renovated for nearly three years. In 1987, it was handed over to the Municipal Art Museum for management; It was adopted and operated by Ms. Chen guoci, the former executive director of the national foundation for culture and art.
