Historical overview
During the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, the banking industry in Jinan set up the Ford guild hall in gaodusi lane. Sanheheng, qingtaichang, xiejutai, dadetong, dadeheng and other banks sent people here every day to exchange information and trade, commonly known as "Shangguan". In 1906, the German Lihe foreign firm's Han Shi Lilai Ji set up Lihe foreign firm Jinan Branch in gaodusi lane, which was the first foreign firm established in Ji.
At the beginning of the first month of the 11th year of Xianfeng (1861), French bishop Jiang leisiliqi preached and threatened to take back the Catholic Church which had been abandoned in the 30th year of Qianlong. Because of the weakness of the Qing government and the unequal treaties, many houses in the east of gaodusi lane and the Lake fields in the north were occupied by missionaries. From 1861 to 1869, the Catholic Church was expanded one after another. In order to prevent the siege of the masses, all the churches were closed buildings, which looked like an ancient castle from a distance. Nowadays, many old Jinan people still call this area "Yanglou Street". In 1903, gongligong school was opened in gaodusi lane. After the revolution of 1911, the school became a public school. In 1914, it merged with private shanzuo public school and Jinan government secondary school to establish provincial No.1 middle school, which is the predecessor of Jinan No.1 middle school.
Huiyuanli Huang's courtyard at No. 10-26, gaodusi lane, is the former site of Jitai clothes shop. It is one of the most important business houses in Jinan history. Its business scope has reached Beijing, Qingdao and other cities. The courtyard is divided into main road and branch road, including 6 large courtyards and nearly 300 houses. It is a lane with modern style, which is different from the typical quadrangle in the north, and has distinctive characteristics of the times. The owner of Yuhua stationery store, who once lived on the 36th, once opened the branch in Shanghai and Singapore. When the public-private partnership was established, the government's valuation of the store was as high as 400 million yuan!
