The origin of the name

On November 8, 2014, after more than a month's publicity, online name solicitation and voting by the West China Metropolis Daily and the West China metropolis net through newspapers, Internet and other media, the top 20 names of the online voting were selected from nearly 2000 names. After multi-party evaluation and soliciting the opinions of cultural personages, the new name of Sichuan Tower: Jinxiu Tianfu tower was determined. Later, it was renamed Tianfu panda tower in February 2018.

1. Geographical representation

Sichuan tower is the only TV Tower in Sichuan that can compete with other large TV towers in China. The name "Jinxiu Tianfu tower" clearly highlights the regional characteristics of Sichuan tower. Historical evolution

From July to August 1982, the Party group of Sichuan Broadcasting Bureau made a decision to expand Sichuan TV station and build a new launch base for Sichuan TV station. In August of the same year, the State Planning Commission listed the project as a key construction project in Sichuan Province.

In 1983, the provincial government approved the construction of Jinxiu Tianfu tower.
