In November 2000, the Ministry of communications of China completed the industry review of the pre feasibility study of Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge

In June 2001, the State Planning Commission of China approved the proposal for Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge project

Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge is divided into three parts: South and north bank connection Expressway and river crossing bridge. The collection of vehicle toll is also "bridge to bridge, road to road". The vehicle toll of North and south bank connection is calculated according to mileage and vehicle type, and that of river crossing bridge is calculated according to vehicle number and vehicle type.
