Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park

Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park is located in the northwest corner of the Macao Peninsula. It faces Gongbei of Zhuhai City across the river. It was built in 1999 to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat Sen. At the entrance of the park stands a bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat Sen.

Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park covers a total area of 570000 square meters. Due to the uneven landfills in the original site, the lawn design of the park is based on the terrain. The landscape design of the park gathers the characteristics of the East and the West. The northeast of the park is designed in Chinese style, including artificial lakes, curved bridges, pavilions, small pavilions, etc.; the southwest of the park is designed in western style, including sports facilities and greenhouses.

Macao Memorial Park for Sun Yat Sen is located in the northwest corner of Macao Peninsula, facing Gongbei of Zhuhai City across the Yayong river of Qingzhou. It was built in 1999 to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat Sen. At the entrance of the park stands a bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, surrounded by flowers and fallen flowers. Mr. Sun Yat Sen's right hand is leaning on a walking stick, his left arm is holding a coat, and his bronze statue backs on his hometown Xiangshan. His eyes are fixed on Macao.

Historical evolution

The original site of the park was a landfill before 1983, and then it was opened up and built as a park in 1987 as a pilot of environmental protection. When it was first completed, it was named after Yayong River Park. Later, a bronze statue of Sun Yat Sen was erected in 1990, and the Australian and Portuguese government officially named the park as a municipal park in memory of Sun Yat Sen. In 1996, the park added a large steel sculpture entitled "forever handshake" to commemorate the friendship between China and Portugal. The design idea of "forever handshake" is to witness the friendly relations between China and Portugal and the understanding of Macao people, and to show the continuation of the friendship between China and Portugal by shaking hands with each other.

The full name of the library is huangyingjun Library in memory of Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park, and its name is Huang Yingjun library, an overseas Chinese from Peru. The library officially opened on April 26, 1996, with a collection of about 5000 books. The library is divided into two layers, the upper layer is adult reading room, and the lower layer is children's reading room.

Historical story

Macao is not only the place where Dr. Sun Yat Sen practiced medicine in his early years, but also the position where Dr. Sun Yat Sen "fought against yuan and begged for dragon". In 1912 and 1913, Sun Yat Sen visited Macao twice. In 1914, Sun Yat Sen sent his right-hand man Zhu Zhixin to Macao to set up a secret organization to fight against yuan and lead the anti yuan and dragon campaign, and actively raised funds and purchased arms. Chen Shurong, chairman of the Macao society of history, pointed out that in order to guard against conspiracy, Zhu Zhixin and other revolutionaries lived in Macao in seclusion, their actions were extremely secret, and their communications changed from time to time. For the sake of concealment, even a prostitute village in the red light district of Longfu new street was used as a place for exchanging intelligence and meeting secretly. With the support of a prostitute named jinzai, she sold gold ornaments to support the revolution. In 1919, Sun Yat Sen sent Sun Ke to Macao to set up an office as a special commissioner to launch the Guangdong army and Navy uprising and drive out the GUI warlords.
